I think theres a few issues here - the first being that unless you grow everything in your back garden, everything you eat either seems to be unethical or bad for you. I think sometimes that knowing all the bad things companies do can just be depressing, we would never be able to eat anything!

I agree totally. I think in modern society I would consider anyone vegetarian as long as they do not actively eat food which requires the killing of an animal. You cannot be too fussy as in one way or another anyone/anything could probably linked to something to do with animal testing/animal killing/meat products being cooked on the same premises etc...

Although I do think this case is slightly different as we are taking a STEP BACK and must petition to prove a point.

    A few points/questions:

    - Fish might well not be 'meat' by some definitions (well by some definitions even fruits/nuts are meat!) but regardless, eating fish IS NOT vegetarian!

    - Is this a world wide change or just in the UK? I am particularly interested in India. If these products are sold there, then there is NO WAY the country would allow the use of rennet which involves the killing of a calf (one of the most sacred animals to Hindus). Also, where to Muslims and Jews stand on this? With regards to the rennet not being halal/kosher.

    - Do Snickers bars stay good frozen? :D
It may be worth for some to invest in old stock whilst it's still on the shelves.

    - Does everybody realise the same animal rennet is used in the manufacture of some CHEESE!? Unless it specifically states 'suitable for veges', cheese probably sin't vegetarian! If you stop eating mars bars, you better start thinking twice about takeaway pizzas, ready made sandwiches etc...

If you eat fish but not meat you are a pescatarian.my ex was one!!!a pest for sure!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

depends why your are a vegetarian, if its for health reasons or simply because you don't like the taste of meat then I agree with you, but if your a vegetarian because you love and respect animals then obviously you wouldn't want anything to do with a product that are made by companies who support animal testing.
  • I, too am annoyed that Masterfoods have taken the decision to use non-veg ingredients in their choclates and other food. I certainly won't be buying any of their goods, even the ones that they claim to be suitable for vegetarians. I believe this will be a costly decision to them in the long term as they will loose a very large number of customers.

Anyone know a website which lists veg foods by brand or type?

I do eat meat but I don't want 'meat' products in my sweets.

Their sales will suffer as a result as stated above, many people will not buy products that are not vegetarian.

i dont see what the big deal is.

most veggies, or people who claim to be still eat fish. thats an animal.

it will be the small few vegans that are truely affected by this. no big deal, theres always plenty of alternatives anywho.

One will not become royal if he/she start calling himself / herself royal.
Similarly one will not become a veggie just by calling themselves a veggie.
    It is nothing but ignorance.

I will not eat these bars again.
It is shame that I just bought 2 packs of Snickers from Tesco which expires in Nov.

Yeah, most of the veggies I know don't eat fish. I'm veggie myself, and it gets on my wick when people say 'oh, I'm a vegetarian. But I still eat fish.' Or when I ask what's vegetarian on a menu and am told the tuna bake is.

not as bad as asking for veggie dishes and being told that the chicken was veg because it was fed on corn
