    NO LUCK

My 6680 doesnt seem to detect the cable once it is connected. Should there be some sort of sound/signal when the phone is connected to the DKU-5?
  • you load the bb5 phone and connect the phone...leave the log file and bb5 file where they are.. if phone is connected correctly details will appear on the program... then hit the WR button and the phone will reboot... reread the phone and it will have the backup installed, i just tried this and my phone was re-locked (but not the firmware so will look the same).. to get your firmware back you wouls have to use the nokia service update after resetting your phones product code back to original number using NSS

Thank you so much pal, I have atlast restored my fone and have unlocked it as well, I really gave up trying and contacting you guys was my last effort. Just couldnt afford to lose this phone due to lack of finances and I got TOMTOM on my 6680. Thanks again mate.

where you usually get a USB icon on the phone screen, this doesn't appear but I do get a message that flashes on the phone screen when i connect it saying 'Enhancement Not Supported'... this make no difference to the unlocking of the phone.
check the device manager on your PC..this is what it looks like on Vista:

if you are sure the cfg file is set to the correct com port when you try to connect to the unlocker... turn the phone off/on and keep pressing read phone as it starts up.

yes the third party dku 5 shouldn't register on the phone, windows should however allocate a com port and then you can begin with unlocking it.
    ummm...

gutted that the DKU-5 cable i have doesn't work with the N70.

BB5 install knbows the cable is on com port 4 but errors and says it isn't detecting a phone. read on a site that dku-5 isn't compatible with N70.

does anyone know what cable i can use?

i have the dku-2 cable and dku-5 cable only.

is it an original nokia dku5? they only work it they have a full set of pins (I think), the third party dku5's should work.

Yes it is a 3rd party cable but has a full set of pins.

Greenleaf: The cable is recognised, but I dont get 'Enhancement Not Supported''Enhancement Not Supported'. my com port is set to 25 in the device manager, i changed it to one of the available ports and matched the cfg file but still get a message saying com port not detected when i start the unlocker.

BTW should the com port setting in the cfg look something like COM1?

the com port setting on the cable/PC must be between 1 & 9 as the program can only read upto Com 9....
and the cfg file must match the COM setting on the PC.. so if your cable on PC is COM6... then the cfg file should be altered to say COM6.

If the cable is recognised..yet doesn't get picked up by the phone.. try switching the phone off/on..and as it starts up... keep pressing the read phone button and see itf it picks it up... i have to do this to all N70's when i do them..but the 6680 seems to do ok.
