A positive as not everything is doom and gloom.
The Tesco credit card has gone to confirmed in a week. Top marks there and I'm assuming confirmed means accepted and will be paid?

    Snap

TCB - Can you answer please whether this assumption is correct?

  • ARRRGH! Another purchase tracking at the wrong amount. It's everything (of any value) we buy now. Affiliate networks are being allowed to get away with murder.

Latest is Staysure Travel Insurance multi-trip. How does 27.3% of £33.32 come to £6.30? (Price after IPT removed, full cost £39.99) Unless some clown took off both IPT and VAT which does not apply on insurance. The author of TCB's Staysure page doesn't even know that. Inexcusable.

So another sodding claim to waste more of my time and thinning patience.

We members now have to spend so much time and effort screenshotting (26 pages on my BT order which is still mis-tracked), monitoring and then entering detailed challenges to wrongly tracked cashbacks, I'm beginning to feel like a TCB employee.

Can we apply for holiday pay and pension?

    Hey everyone,

Hope you're all having a great midweek.

@B_M - No worries at all, one thing I can mention is the status of a company with the FCA. I know for example, you have pointed out that we are a Appointed representative and not an Authorised one :) It's great to hear your Tesco transaction is progressing speedily.

@OceanSound - I did further reply to your email yesterday and I believe this has successfully progressed to payable before I replied :)

@bristolleedsfan - That is the correct assumption. Confirmed means we have been alerted that we are eligible for the commission and will be paid in due course.

@woodface7 - As I am sure you can understand, if the commission has been incorrectly allocated for a member this needs to be queried individually. With larger tracking issues we can get resolved as a whole normally but individuals so have to lodge a claim. I understand the form itself can take a few minutes, but after that's been completed we do everything from there and will update the member as soon as a response is received.

I do hope this helps everyone.

    Best wishes,
    Matt

    @TopCashback Rep Matt:

I know. I'd seen both your emails before posting #2846. Your second email just said the cashback had reached 'payable' status. No explanation as to how come it took 10 months to reach 'confirmed'' status (which was what I was asking you in my latest email).

On all TCB's FCA entries Matt? Are you sure?

Just to tidy up the 'appointed representative' bit.
An appointed representative (AR) is a firm or person who runs regulated activities and acts as an agent for a firm we directly authorise. This firm is known as the AR's 'principal'.

There must be a written contract between the principal and the AR documenting the arrangement. The principal takes full responsibility for ensuring that the AR complies with our rules.

So basically, if TCB get it wrong promoting or not paying out the correct promoted rate within a reasonable time, the 'principal' is fully responsible. That's one reason to go direct to the merchant (principal) initially. Never ever allow a cashback when taking out a financial product to go longer than four months. Complain at four months and at least you are moving forward and the clock is ticking.
Promotional material for a financial product must be accurate, clear and fair. Any confusion will benefit the purchaser. Long may confusion continue. ;)
No payments from financial products from cash back sites? Put in a complaint direct and if they don't resolve your issue, head straight to the financial ombudsman - it costs the company £550 in referral fees, win or lose.

Small claims court is another option, if you feel you are up to it.

    Another option...

Available for ANY product or service purchased from a business based in a EU member state. health and higher education products/services definitely not included. Don't know if this scheme covers financial products/services.

    Morning everyone,

@OceanSound - I will take a further look into this and see if I can spot anything that was the cause of it. It may just be that the transaction was caught up in batch where the hotel didn't report the stay as completed but I will take a look and reply all the same :)

@B_M - I do feel like I have answered your question in regards to the points you have raised. If you have any further concerns about our registration with any authority please drop me an email to mse@topcashback.co.uk and I will investigate much closer for you. This forum was intended for generic queries that members may have about their transactions and their account, with queries that are much more specific I would appreciate an email so I can take a much closer look into specific concerns you have.

    Best wishes,

Yes, I agree after 4 months it makes sense to go to the merchant. We have more clout as consumers.

I have a longstanding claim for a Tesco Credit Card tracker - I have posted here and Matt has kindly got back to me and told me one of the reasons Tesco appear not to have responded as they need to check they have not paid it to someone else. '@bxboards - Between us and the merchant is the cashback network and they are the first port of call as they also decline cashback if they believe another company should be paid the commission.'

But it doesn't take nearly 5 months to do that, so I suspect the FCA would be very interested to work out why Tesco need 5 months to figure out why they have not paid it, or if they have paid it, but to someone else! But radio silence from a merchant isn't acceptable, either way as it is not credible that it takes a financial institution 5 months to follow up a money trail - this really is what they are supposed to do by trade!

I do not blame TCB for this, I think merchants probably put up promotions here and do not have the backend to deal with claims, or are even aware of the timescales they need to adhere to. I suspect they need to think about getting Service Level Agreements with financial merchants for claim turnaround.

With respect, I'll get all the info direct from the authorities. TCB and yourself just skirt the issues and that's why members are getting screwed. This forum and MSE is about saving money and not advising fully how to obtain legitimate declined cashback payments, is not money saving.
When you Matt, or TCB start to accept their responsibilities and properly advise members on routes to take, I can stop.
I'm actually hoping my More Than landlord insurance goes pear-shaped as there are routes I want to investigate with the FOS. One of the reasons, apart from a high 'exclusive' rate, for taking out a policy with More Than. The marketing goes against the advice from the FOS and that alone needs rectifying. But, certain things need looking into.
I'll repeat, I don't believe TCB are a fit and proper company to promote financial products.

Hope you are enjoying your week, nearly the weekend already. :)
