The CAB pointed you in the right direction, to the FOS. You can miss out the CAB now as you have been educated (take that in the right way). Now, simply lodge a complaint direct to both the cashback site and merchants. There is a possibility you have been mis-sold a financial product.
TCB are regulated by the FCA, so a complaint there may be the best option of tightening things up. They have the powers to warn a member of their conduct and even take away their license. Also lodge a complaint to the FOS, as it alerts them to issues and you can follow their guidance.
TCB, like the CAB, should be advising of the FOS route. If they don't, report them. They'll apply their own rules until they've had their hands smacked!
The reason the Nationwide settled, is more than likely to save a FOS referral fee. A lot cheaper simply to settle.

If you haven't been piad the full amount of any incentive for taking out a financial product, there is a chance you have been mis-sold a financial product. See above.

Anyone that has ever had a financial product declined, paid short or even unpaid after four months, go the FCA / FOS route. It really works. Small claims court is another option, if you feel you are up to it.

I think the only thing I can be sure of is the £150 from the co op themselves. My friend is now in the process of actually completing the switch and who knows the cash back could change again to zero.

They seem to make it up as the go along. Oh well thats life!
  • --Maybe my first idea was the best idea - contact Cooperative Bank myself and put a complaint in and to ask for my own top up in pounds as opposed to % :D

Have now submitted this to Cooperative Bank via secure message - irony is that I have already received 60.00 compensation on the same account for Cooperative Bank apparent failure to initiate Direct Debit guarantee in a timely manner - asked for 50.00 compensation was offered and given 60.00 :)

    To - Co-operative Bank

COMPLAINT - NOT TO BE TREATED AS FEEDBACK -

Cashback Misselling - Apparent Failure To Honour/Pay In A Timely Manner An Advertised/Promoted Cashback Incentive Via Third Party - www.topcashback.co.uk For Successfully Opening Account Number And Completing A Full Switch. - 125.00 Cashback Incentive

On 18th April I saw and successfully participated in an apparent Cooperative Bank marketing incentive via Topcashback, - Account Number .......

The transaction tracked and was subsequently confirmed, confirmed meant that Cooperative Bank was happy to pay for the transaction in due course.

Five Months and a week after the transaction date in common with some other users on www.moneysavingexpert.com forums the transaction was rejected, TCB inform me it has been given no apparent reason for this.

    18 Apr 2016 £0.00 £126.25 declined

    1. Are Co-operative Bank aware that FCA state all promotions should be paid within four months in this electronic world?

Why after 5.5 Months have I not been paid 125.00 cashback incentive for successfully participating in Cooperative Bank marketing promotion via TCB on 18th April?

    2. What is the reason for my apparent valid promotion transaction having been rejected/refused for payment.

    3. Do Cooperative Bank agree that if it were to ask question did I meet T+C of its Topcashback marketing incentive cashback promotion then it would agree that the answer is that I met all of its most stringent T+C that it has ever set for any such Current Account Opening/Full switch incentives - namely

800.00 deposited every month from outside source

Salary/Pension credit credited to account every month since May 2016

4 direct debits paid out every month

Full switch completed with switched in account closed

I have not previously received a Cashback Incentive from Cooperative Bank via "any" "Cashback Site"

T+C did not bar existing customers from the Cashback offer that I accepted and duly went on to fulfill all T+C

Will Cooperative Bank please resolve this complaint by paying me both the sum of 125.00 that it offered via TCB and 60.00 compensation for its apparent failing to honour its marketing incentive promotion of 18th April 2016 in a reasonable timely matter, the failing of which has caused me inconvenience and to waste a lot of time on something that should have been paid automatically

Should Cooperative Bank wish to discuss this matter with TCB - My membership ID is ......

@bristolleedsfan - yes, always ask for compensation if you have been let down / inconvenienced and have to spend hours resolving an issue.
£30 is or was easily achievable and maybe £50 - £60 is the new £30? Sometimes nice companies will also send company merchandise.
No payments from financial products from cash back sites? Put in a complaint direct and if they don't resolve your issue, head straight to the financial ombudsman - it costs the company £550 in referral fees, win or lose.

Tesco Bank and Halifax offer an easy 25.00 when ......

Cooperative Bank in the earlier example offered 25.00, I asked for 50.00, person who eventually sorted the direct debit guarantee issue then answered offering 60.00.

HSBC offered an easy 40.00, others who suffered longer delays got 100.00
  • Hi,

I joined Topcashback from a friend's referral and was given a £5 M&S e-card once I reached over £10 of payable cashback. I requested to withdraw the e-card but I can't see where it is on my account. My dashboard is showing that it is claimed but I can't find it.

    Please help.

    Thanks

    Hi Everyone,

Nice to see @B_M trying to help people out as best as he can. I'll help you as much as I can inline with the help and assistance we can offer. As cashback site, we pass on to you the commission we are paid for referring you to make a purchase, in the same way as websites and search engines make money from sponsored ads. The difference is of course, other sites earn this for themselves and don't pass any on.

@mudpuppy123 - If you could kindly send me an email to mse@topcashback.co.uk I'll be able to track down this voucher request for you :)

@bristolleedsfan - I have been able to override the click limit so you can pursue your claim.

@steve1500 - With Avios, please put the last digit in the box on it's own and the remainder of the middle numbers in the middle box :)

@thor - Do you mind dropping me an email to mse@topcashback.co.uk? I'll personally speak with the Claims Team and find out what's been happening with us. I do truly understand your frustration and hope we can get this remedied for you very soon.

@MABLE - If you could also email in, I'll be able to take a look at your transaction and help further.

I hope this helps everyone and I believe I have covered everyone's concerns but if you have any further concerns please let me know.

    Many thanks,
    Matt

@TCB Matt, you're welcome. Anything I may have posted in error, please advise and I'll correct it. Sad that TCB can't offer the proper way to resolve financial issues, Not yet, anyway.

There is cashback confirmed on my TCB account for a transaction done on 29 October 2015.

I've navigated the TCB site head to toe, but nowhere does it tell me when exactly the transaction was confirmed. In the 'earnings' webpage it says ''estimated payable' 7 weeks. But without knowing the confirmed date, how on earth are we to work out the payable date?

I've emailed mse[at]topcashback.co.uk about this just now.
@OceanSound - I will reply to you as soon as I can :)

    @TopCashback Agent Matt:

    Received your email. Thanks.

You've said the cause of the delay in confirming the cashback could have been due to the date of completion (check-out date), and that merchants don't process the cashback until completion of the stay at a hotel. Correct. But:

I wrote to TCB in December 2015 and provided you the check-out date = 31 October 2015.

Your colleague said it would take 2-3 months for the missing claim to be processed. since lodging the missing cashback claim on 09 November 2015, it's taken over 10 months for the cashback to be confirmed.

I'll leave it to others to decide if you didn't look in to my concerns properly, or were trying to fob me off.

    In other news - :)

For anyone who doesnt currently hold a Tesco Credit Card and likes to play Credit Card application for Cashback game this is a cracker - very low initial credit limit offered means much increased likelyhood of having application accepted and tracked in for me within 24 hours.:j

    https://www.topcashback.co.uk/tesco-bank-foundation-credit-card/

A positive as not everything is doom and gloom.
The Tesco credit card has gone to confirmed in a week. Top marks there and I'm assuming confirmed means accepted and will be paid?

A negative though, still no movement on my SSE broadband offer and still showing as over £30 short after two full months. I'll leave this a while longer and then contact SSE and see if they'll suspend my direct debit until resolved. If I've got to wait, then surely, in fairness, so should they. Another option will be a request to allow myself out of contract without penalty.

National Lottery - no movement either yet and I know many are watching this 'exclusive'. Fingers crossed it will be paid within three or four weeks now. Gut instinct suggests a complaint will be going in there though. I'm willing to apoligise if my instincts are wrong.

But, top marks for Tesco.......................so far.

    Top cash back rep.

I applied for a friend via Top cash back and at the time the cash back was shown as pending at £57.00 for switching main account to the Co op.. I check this morning and it is now reduced to £44 cash back. I assume the main £150 cash back advertised will be made by Co Op bank.

My question is is it usual for the cash back site to reduce the amount even though the transaction has gone through.

    reply from Top Cash back

    Thank you for your message.

Unfortunately we are unsure as to why your cashback has originally tracked at £57.00 has the offer direct from the merchant was for £48.00 which would of been shown to you has £52.80 including your plus rate top-up.

It appears that the network and merchant has reviewed your transaction and seen that it has tracked at a higher rate and dropped it lower. Unfortunately, it appears that the merchant and network has dropped this lower than the rate advertised so we will continue to submit your claim for review, once your validation period has passed.

Once we have submitted your claim, we will be in touch to let you know and to advise you further.
