    Hello all!

    Few spends to report:

    £1.20 in the corner shop
    89p in Mr S
    £1.05 in Mr S
    £2.09 in M+S
£2.25 in Borough Market on 2 end of day sourdough loaves

So £6.43 to add to the total.

Since my last post I've had:

    Friday

    Breakfast - Toast with Marmite
Lunch - Pitta bread from the freezer and the other half of baked beans served with it
Dinner Housemate cooked roast chicken, veg and sweet potato mash. He bought these gravy stock pots though, but I don't think they are worth the extra cost (he agreed). Bisto is better

    Saturday

    Brunch - Cheese toasted sandwich
Dinner - Leftover chicken, chickpea, spinach and cashew nut pilaf. It was 'okay', but I've had better recipes (it had curry paste, and I think it needed a few more spices), including my Biryani recipe.

    Sunday

The Overground is down this weekend, so can't be doing replacement buses. Therefore, housemate will cook beef curry for lunch, and will use the bread I bought with smoked salmon he bought for dinner.

At least I won't be having the weekly meal out entertainment spend this week which is a bonus.

Got a Mr T delivery for Tuesday to use a £3 off £30 voucher (essentially free delivery) -- will update the total when it comes.

  • Crowdpleaser, have you tried mayonnaise for treating headlice? You smother it all over their hair and leave on for at least 4 hours with a shower cap on. Then wash it and comb out all the dead fleas. The oil in it suffocates them so it can't be low fat. The downside is you need to repeat in about 5 days or so because it doesn't kill the eggs, but its a cheap solution. My 2 girls have really long curly hair and I can treat both of them with one jar of smartprice stuff. You will also need washing up liquid to get the stuff out after. And its a good idea to tip it into a bowl before applying. Don't do what I did the first time and nearly break your hand forcing it to the bottom of the jar.

We got it at the chemist, the nice woman behind the counter told me we could have it free, I just had to fill out a form. Details might be on NHS direct website?

Crowdpleaser - have just spoken to daughter and she says you just tell them at the chemist what the problem is and can you have some of the free shampoo. She also mentioned this at the school where the children go and asked the head master to inform the other parents because it wasn't widely known and some of the parents were not getting their children treated due to costs. £35.94 spend at MrT after promotions. Making the most of my last month delivery saver which would have normally cost £6.95 today, which is steep. Some of the spends i didn't need (treats for the up and coming weekend), but i'd already shaved off £5 of goods, that can wait aswell as most of it being offers. Hopefully just need milk in the week.

I'm doing the best i've ever done so far. Just over half the budget, and nearly half way through the month. Let's hope it continues, and i can continue to get my spends down.

Will update my sig when on laptop

Spend of £4.23 today so total for week - £8.45. :j
I have run out of garlic Granules but thought - no! I won't buy them - just another item to pack as my kitchen is ripped out tomorrow.
So the plan is - very little spending as nowhere to put bought food. We will survive on HM meals from the freezer - no idea how long before my kitchen will be up and running again.
