Very small top up shop this week which is good because a large chunk of the budget has gone with two big Ald* shops to use two Mirror vouchers and an AF order.
Needed orange juice, milk, bread, fizzy water, coffee, cheese and shampoo so £10.42 spent in total.

Two weeks until pay day but the freezer and cupboards are still packed and there is lots of batch cooking to eat up so we could make it:)

Keep up the good work everyone!

so, more money spent today. I know we are being more careful than before, so dread to think what we were spending.
Used parking vouchers, bought ys and meal deal stuff in m and s. Spent £10, but meal deal for 2 fed 4 and still got dessert. Also other bits still left. Bought wine in booths with another parking voucher, £5.80 for a £12 wine as it was on offer.
I suspect will over spend this week, but loads towards next week.
Slowly getting the hang of it!

Did the weekly shop last night, split between Mr S as we had a voucher and Mr A as we like some stuff that only they sell (and/or is cheaper!). £16.79+£16.94 so £33.73 for the week which is pretty good and included some treats. Did quite well on YS bakery items in MrS; chelsea buns 34p, 6 muffins 19p, buns 29p and some of the new flavours of new york style bagels I've been wanting to try for 39p (for a 4 pack) so very pleased with those! (£1.60 full price - scandalous!)

Hopefully that will be it for another week but I'm not so sure - love shopping too much!

May has officially gone to pot for me so I'm starting again. I've had an Ofsted inspection (teacher), trip home to Wales for a funeral, madness at work and everything apart from this has flown out of the window including any budgeting at all.
Sometimes life just gets in the way but no point in worrying about it - I'll just start again.

So, this morning I went to the village shops on the way home instead of Tesco in an attempt to not buy lots of stuff I don't really need and to encourage me to cook proper food rather than shove it in the oven/microwave processed stuff. I've been so busy that bad habots have crept in and they need to go!

It all came to £23 but that did include £5 worth of dog food from the butchers that he doesn't always have in - basically offcuts and offal trays that you just put in the oven - the dog goes bonkers for them so I have 5 trays - one for today as a treat and the rest for the freezer. Its quite rich so one a week is enough.

So my food shopping came to £18 - better than the usual £40 odd of recent weeks. I had to pay cash too so it was more difficult to part with the real money rather than pretending it doesn't count on a debit card!;)

I'll do a meal plan for the week later - no excuses to not make nutritious food this week.

Just looked at the diary and there are 2 more food shopping Saturdays in May so my new mini challenge is to spend no more than £90 until 1st June on groceries including the £23 just spent. This includes toiletries, household stuff, dog food etc so I'll have to be careful and not just buy stuff for the sake of it. It will also include packed lunches for 4 days a week. So I have £67 left...

    Onwards and upwards...
  • Hi, my monthly challenge finished yesterday and I came in at £38.98 which is a first for me. I didn't feel I was denying myself most of the time, but there were a couple of occasions where I wanted to just run amuck in the isles. I wont be doing a challenge next month as I get paid 4 weekly and eventually I will be too far ahead. I have plenty in my cupboards, fridge and freezer, I mainly need fresh produce next month. So good luck on next months challenge everyone. I will be lurking to read how everyone is doing. :hello:

    NSD today here.
Yesterday I spent - will adjust sig.
No dinner photo last night - I had the camera on the wrong setting so it was a blurry image.
We had Dabs with HM wedges and HM coleslaw.
Today I am making a beef casserole so we have more HM meals available in the freezer for our time without a kitchen. The utility area is almost ready to use - lovely sink/worktop and cupboards - just will only have a microwave to use for food.
