What a horrible wet, windy and cold day today has been.
Did some shopping this morning and spent £26.47

Tea did turn out to be pork steak and we had it with potatoes, roast parsnips, cabbage and cauli with onion sauce. Cant say enjoyed it that much if honest.

Afternoon all, what a lovely day it is ... to be stuck in an office :-/

Saturday we had a BBQ but managed to split the cost with our next door neighbour.
Sunday DH, kidlets and I went off to DH's Boss' charity funday (DH had run 10K in the morning to raise funds) Hog roast, popcorn, candyfloss and ice cream all round. (Kidlets thought it was paradise!) Then got back and our neighbour invited us for dinner - result! NSD and free meals!

Just completed my first online Mr S shop (usually Mr T loyal) but got a £12 off £60 e-voucher. So spent £52ish including delivery plus nearly £3 to come back :T - gotta love the cashback on m*supermarket comparsion.

    Off to update sig x

I've been remiss in not shopping via m*supermarket/cashback but I got annoyed after they started e-mailing weeks after the shop had been delivered asking for the receipt. (They didn't specify which shop they wanted the receipts from so I was a bit clueless as to exactly what they were after). I scanned and sent them only to find that I still didn't receive the cashback, only another request for the receipt(s) several weeks later again... (didn't get round to scanning them (sigh) so missed out there). Must try to take the time to shop via m*supermarket. I do find it a bit of a faff though.

Been catching up this evening. Thank you peeps for your replies re my tinned goods. :j and hugs all round xxx

In other news, I wonder if any of you have home deliveries with Mr T? On their website, they display life code information against some of their fresh produce. For example, bread might have a 4+ day life code yet when they deliver the foods, the bread delivered might only have a shelf life of 2 days. I wondered whether this was common practice - and whether they should be refunding me or whether its just one of those things that they try their best to do but no refund if its not right?

I'm liking all these pics of food/meals everyone is having :T

Why didn't you enjoy your dinner tonight then? I didn't enjoy mine. Cooked too much  so wasteful really and after a day of stuffing chocolate and sweets, I haven't really done too well with my sw today nor do I feel too clever this evening :(

I think that the pork steak was suffering from freezer burn, it was not tender at all and the cauli was rather strong. It was the last bit I was using up instead of throwing it out. Either that or I have lost my cooking mojo :( :rotfl: think we all have the odd day when we don't enjoy what we dish up but luckily they few and far between.

I do, and today a salad was flagged up as having a shorter than advertised life - ie it was pointed out to me and I had the option to refuse it.

On the website Mr T explains the shelf life guide like this: Because you can't see our products for yourself, we've given some items a 'Product Life' logo to help. This will show you how long the product is likely to be at its best when it arrives at your door. But that's not to say all your products will 'go off' straight after, it just helps you to plan your meals.

    and goes on to say:
Sometimes a product doesn't have as long as we'd like before the 'display until' date. If that's the case, we'll highlight it on your receipt and put it in a yellow plastic bag. That way you can either keep it or hand it back to the driver for a full refund.

I've never checked to see if things have the same life as mentioned on the website, but if you get something that doesn't have the specified days, and if not flagged up to you, I think it is worth emailing and asking for a refund.

Keeping a better eye on finances this week. Although eldest son got a good grade for his first ever part of GCSE last night so we got a take away... Hmm. Not including it this week though as it was an extra treat.
Got a YS chicken today and some YS sticky buns. Also got cupcake boxes for daughters birthday party. 1/2 price and figured a nice cupcake with a balloon tied on box is cheaper than all the tat they get in their party bags. 6 boxes for £1.24 - not bad! Having an 'at home' tea party for her, so will be keeping a very keen eye out for cheap cake ingredients!
    Have updated signature.
