Hello, hope people had a good weekend!

I succumbed to the lure of the good sausage shop in my local high street, and stocked up on some properly made ones, plus some other meats. I ran out of mayo too, and once my mum had dragged me into Sainsbury's, it was a fight to come out without over spending too much!

Total for the weekend was £25.35 (that includes packed lunches for the week). Still under budget for the month, with lots of 'using up' to do.

I have discovered that couscous that went out of date in July 2011 is pretty much inedible. The packet dated June 2012 was OK, but the older stuff had gone off. Dammit. :)
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

€423.41/€750 spent and cupboards and fridge are too well stocked for my liking. I need to do a bit of meal planning for the week and get himself organised on what he's making for dinner!!

Sausage meat and puff pastry to make sausage rolls lurking in fridge and must be done tonight!!!

I bought a red cabbage and used half of it for a coleslaw. I now have half a red cabbage in the fridge, but dont need it for this weeks meal plan.
Can i freeze it? If so, how?
I haven't frozen cabbage - find it lasts so long in the fridge that I get around to using it.

You could make bubble and squeak with it and freeze that.

    Hi everyone,

Welcome GILL635 - you are on the list!

Another small spend in Ts today on cereal, potatoes (they didn't have any red potatoes left yesterday), veg, fizzy water etc.

£17.15 to add to my total. I've meal-planned for this week and should have everything in barring some more milk. Didn't get to A!di due to time constraints so had to get Ts equivalents which are more pricey :(

    Keep those purses shut everyone!

WantToBeSE - what I do it braise the red cabbage and freeze then, it actually tastes nicer after freezing as all the flavours and spices infuse more.
