Good morning ladies - you are all suspiciously quiet - no backsliding if you please.:rotfl:

Don't forget today is Fab Friday so get those glad rags on.

Very busy here. OH's Continuing Care Assessment went well - he has passed the first hurdle. Ha - about time they realised how bad things are.

If he can get through this then I can make sure they place him in a better nursing home where he will receive care more appropriate to his needs.

I am in the process of compiling a dossier to strengthen our case and shall be going in with a camera today to record evidence.

I honestly never thought I would see the day when I had to go to these lengths just to ensure that he received decent medical and nursing care.

    What a state of affairs.

TBH I am heartily sick of it all. There are times when I feel like throwing in the towel and just walking away. My own health is suffering because of all this but I can't give up the fight on his behalf.

If I can just get him justice, decent care and support I could perhaps ease off and start to look after my own needs more. These almost daily visits to him are wearing me out.

Hey ho. A soak in the bath, put on some slap and I'll feel better. Despite physio on Tuesday my back is still very sore.

Memo to self - I must do some yoga each day.

Sorry for the whinge - must be the grey skies .

    Have a Fab Friday......

    Hi
good luck LL with the struggle for your OH's care I'm sure it will pay off -it's just so sad that you have to fight this way for what should be a basic right for us all.

1[STRIKE] finish off the assignment [/STRIKE]
2 try and get away for long enought to get some advice from WA
3 get back on the business card/leaflet website and finish off the template
4 send off references etc to RSPCA

Have done no 1, have half done 2 and 4 but unfortunately we have had a tragedy and on top of everything else it's knocked the stuffing out. DD2 found her rat dead and half eaten by the other one the other night, :eek:we have no idea why or how it died it was only about a year old and well looked after - she's heartbroken and blames herself despite me telling her that sometimes these things happen. It's all taken it out of me on top of everything else.:(

Will be fabbing up a bit later it's my birthday and the older children are taking us all out for tea.
    have agood day all

Oh poor you lizzie, it never rains but it pours.

First let me wish you a very Happy Birthday.

I do hope you have a great time when you go out to tea.

:Ton finishing your assignment and other progress.

Strangely enough, it was when I got to a birthday that I resolved to get away from my ex. It was like a milestone (or do I mean millstone;)) that made me reflect I couldn't waste any more years of my life with what he was offering for our future.

Good luck on your mission LL, can't stop to post now but I'll be back later.

Happy Birthday Lizzie - Enjoy your day and your outing with your family.

Thanks for the good wishes re OH - we'll get there. Took a load of photos - the consultant will appreciate these as "before and after" his new drug therapy.

Looking at them and then comparing them with happier times makes me realise just how dreadful he looks. When you see someone every day you tend not to notice their decline, a photo is very revealing.

I have to confess I didn't look too hot in those photos either.

Must make more of an effort - with my weight and my clothes. I'm looking a bit haggard, wore brown today - don't think it does much for me. I need something more vibrant. And I definitely would look better with a tan.

    Time for botox????:rotfl::rotfl:

Happy birthday Lizzie - how lovely the kids are taking you out, hope you manage to have a great time! :bdaycake:

It's my dad birthday today as well and I must admit am feeling a little sad as the first time in a lot of years that won't be able to see him on the day, the last few years have gone back down for birthdays but just can't stretch to the money at the moment. Ah well, shall give him a ring tonight and I'm hoping they will be up for a visit soon.
Oh and 7 weeks today until my last day here!

    Time for botox????:rotfl::rotfl:

Don't shoot me down everyone but I'm seriously thinking of getting botox in between my eyebrows and possibly on crows feet during the school summer hols.
Am feeling and looking my age all of a sudden (probably due to being worked to a standstill) and need some restoration!

Well, the coursework and controlled assessments finally got posted today and so my life is now my own again!:j:j:j
700 pieces of work to check and moderate :eek:
Its like a milestone in the school year though as its downhill from here to the summer hols.:)

I've celebrated by opening a bottle of wine and have just booked an hour long massage for tomorrow to sort out my achey neck and shoulders - a bit extravagant at £35 but I need a treat after the past few weeks.

Having a takeaway for tea - probably Indian delivered - and then the damage repair of the last few weeks will start again tomorrow. Massage, gym and good food with worry free sleep - I won't know what's hit me!
Will probably come down with the lurgy as soon as I relax again.:rotfl:

Happy birthday Lizzie - hope its a good day for you (sorry about the rat).

Right, off to have another glass of the old vino.....

Well it was Fab Friday for me today - nice and smart for work today then off to voluntary work this afternoon and finished stage 1 of the project I'm working on. Then back for a nice long walk with Mr dog then back to do 6W6P!

Also got weighed today and discovered 2lbs have dropped off and I'm back to maintainence weight once again - now that's a Fab Friday result!

It's going to be another quietish weekend full of uni work and the usual housework but needs must and all that

Well I certainly won't shoot you down because I'm only half joking. I think the time has come for me to go the "tried and tested Science route". ;)

The stress of the last few years has taken it's toll. I've always had frown lines and they are really very pronounced now. In my case it would just be a matter of "softening" them rather than eradicating them. The crow's feet aren't too bad but I do have Marionette lines (outer corners of mouth to chin). I absolutely hate them.

I do think there comes a point where topical creams, facials etc are not quite enough.

As you know I am a beauty therapist so have a healthy understanding of creams etc.

Most of the new creams which describe themselves as "botox in a jar" are reasonably effective but obviously they will not compete with injectables.

I know people worry about injecting a poison into their faces but it has been used in all sorts of medical procedures for decades now so it is well tested and proven over the long term. The proviso is of course you must have it done by a very good professional, namely a doctor not just any old beauty therapist.

My worry about the new wonder creams and potions is that they rely on nanotechnology. The way that they work is that the active ingredients permeate down through to the subcutaneous layers of the skin.

This may (or may not) have potential for long term damage or health risks. Their use is still quite new and we don't yet know the long term effects.

The capillary action of the blood vessels could mean that these ingredients could enter the bloodstream and then accumulate in the body's organs.

Can we be sure that a build of these ingredients are safe and not carcinogenic. We know that some lipsticks have ingredients that have proved to be carcinogenic and have been found in major organs.

The last few years have really taken their toll on my face and I do feel that I have aged rather rapidly in the last couple of years in particular. I have been considering some extra help for a while now.

My OH does have botox for medical reasons. He tells me it stings when the liquid enters the body and I notice he does flinch a bit.

    I'm still thinking about it.......

Yes - the danger is once we rest - the lurgies then go in for the kill:rotfl:

Hope you keep well and get a good rest.

    Evening All,

I've not been on for a while so apologies for anything I've missed. I've just got back from a short break in Spain - we went Monday and got back this afternoon. I'm sitting here shivering now! We economised like mad - and the break was a gift from my son so didn't cost us anything to go. We only ate out once, but had lots of ice creams and I'm afraid we didn't eat very healthily so I dread to think what the scales will say. However, we have soaked up the sun's warmth and I've been able to do some swimming. I keep out of the direct sun but have still got a bit of a tan which helps with the looking fab. My knee is still playing up so I won't be able to start running again but I am ok doing Pilates and walking. I have had a healthy tea since we got back and plan to get back into shape as soon as possible. It has made me realise how much better people look when they are slim and toned - seeing the huge variety of exposed bodies around the pool and walking by the beach.

I'm going to use the next few weeks to cut back on spending so it will be a good way to also cut back on unhealthy eating - no more snacks and treats for a bit. I'm going to a retirement party in July where I shall be seeing a lot of people I haven't seen for years so want to look my best for that.

Sorry to hear some people haven't been having a very good time. I hope my post didn't come across as 'me, me, me' but I am a bit out of touch with how everyone is getting on.

    Morning all!
Rose - good to hear you had a nice break and saw the sun!

Had a little lie in today - can't remember the last time I was in bed after 6.30. I'm a bit stiff now though so the massage later will be welcome to my aching shoulders and back.

I'm going to try to tackle the back garden today if the weather hols out. Its getting beyond a joke now, a real jungle. I need to buy a new lawnmower first though, the old one has given up the ghost. Not looking forward to it as the pollen kills me but needs must.

Its strange to not have any schoolwork to do - its become such a habit lately that I expect to not have any free time, I'm sure I'll adjust though :rotfl:

There's all the usual chores of shopping, cleaning and laundry to do too but I can do them at a leisurely pace rather than like a frenzied mad woman today.

Right, I'm off dog walking - hope everyone has a good day.
