Its good to be back etc I see the humour is still alive.
We have finally moved into a property that needs a lot of work doing to it so that should keep me quiet for awhile.
Its lovely to have Broadband back working on a land line rather than using a strange device called a 'dongle' that was as slow as a lazy snail.
Look forward into spending some time going back posts to see what has changed along the way.0 -

I'm at hospital tomorrow ( not Spider-Man day) and trying to sort out clothes. How dreadful is it to have bra straps showing outside a top?
Welcome back Bertie and everyone else for that matter!
Chewie, there's very few pubs and not much shopping in the area you looked at. Trains via Surbiton get you there, about two per hour. New Malden's better connected, but you probably still hate that idea. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I think you need to go to the pub more! There are at least five in Thames Ditton which are ok including the Albany which was less than a minute's walk from the back gate of that house! TD is on the same line as new Malden as well (both stations only served by 2 slow trains an hour) so trains no better or worse. No waitrose within a 2 minute walk though
The one we looked at in claygate is less than 10 minutes walk from three decent pubs. Prefer claygate to be honest, I was a bit nervous about buying something so close to the river given the potential to flood.0 -

Don't blame you. We're at a much higher elevation than where we used to live and feel much happier with it.
New Malden has three times as many trains as Thames Ditton. They have six trains per hour and you can get the last train back from London at 12.30 at night. More like 11.30 I bet for TD/Claygate.
I've lived far away from everything. It's rubbish. It made us eager to move again and as we've already said moving's horrible so that tells you all you need to know about living far from everything.:(There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

i'm 5 mins from waitrose and 3 mins to train station and every 15 mins into London but you don't want to live south do you?
and back on topic for this board, we've had a letter of interest from a developer through re planning permission for garden. We're tempted to give them a call and ask them how much it's worth. We can fit a house at the bottom of our garden and still have a big enough garden for SE.0 -
Didn't know Shepperton trains went through new Malden, my London transport knowledge is being enhanced! Last train to claygate is 23.50 - plenty late enough for me these days! Only 8 mins longer on the train and upto 4 trains an hour in busy periods (although I tend to travel outside rush hour). It will be a bit of a pain compared to the level of convenience we have now (not to mention £100 a month more expensive) but one of the main reasons we are looking at that Thames Ditton / Esher / Claygate belt is that we have friends there already and more of our friends are moving in that direction. I think that's the most important thing really - will just deal with the transport although it will be the worst connected place in terms of public transport I have ever lived in the SE.
Plus Ocado deliver...although if they try bringing any of that morrisons muck near our claygate pile then I won't be pleased!0 -
About 5 minutes ago we waved our friend off as he set off or home. All three of us were out there, it was dusky and dry. Mr S then shuffled the cars arouund on the drive as he has an early start. He has just walked back in and he is drenched. The heavens have just opened here.
Ooh thunder too.0 -

I was checking the weather map for the next ten days earlier and DH glanced over my shoulder and said 'what lakes are these?':rotfl:
With no window in the new bathroom it could be better timing. Never mind, Its all been done with hardy backer board. Should all cope if we get a bit of water in.0 -
Bertie, welcome back!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
