:) you devalue the intellectual property of the person/persons who created it. Someone has spent the time and effort to create something which is worth more and you want it so you pay for it.

This is an issue that comes up with some of my friends who are designers (fashion is one where something gets copied a lot, fc123 can probably tell you that) and music. When you rip music off someone, you are taking away their livelihood.

The best way to keep people creative is to buy things.

That's all true. My interest was piqued by a book I once read that described how different artefacts have been perfected over time. Timepieces like watches have been close to perfect for decades if not centuries and making them marginally better looks like the manufacturing equivalent of splitting hairs.

It's the sheer misdirected energy of it and the misguided hero-worship it inspires. Having said that I'm no connoisseur and I'd be the easiest person to be duped. :(

DH had some big fashion house clients. It keeps the world turning for some. Fashion itself does little for me, but the art and beaty if things does. Craftsmanship. Pretty things.....I think its always better to look at something that gives you pleasure than something that doesn't. Beauty can be in anything...at any price (inc free) and I really like beauty. I can understand people finding different things 'beautiful' but I struggle to get my mind round it not mattering to people (though obviously I accept it does, and I'm not saying my way is rot, just saying I find it hard to really empathise). It's not THE most important thing, by a long shot, but its certainly good to have if there is a choice. I feel that when I see things that make my heart sing, just for a second, then its a small pleasure I might not otherwise have in a day.

My feeling about fashion and interior rip offs is that its the kind of real art the man on the street can save up and buy...unlike other big name originals or limited runs.

This morning I have roascea face again.

Lir I get rosascea too, I think I mentioned. I find Nivea's tinted moisturiser good for this. I use it over the top of another moisturiser though as my skin gets so dry. The cucumber in Estee Lauder's daywear moisturiser I find quite soothing. Or you could try making a cucumber face pack.

I am finding toothbrush heads an issue, even on Amazon it seems hard to know and the reviews do not necessarily help where there is more than one supplier.

I don't know if this is helpful, but OralB has its own eshop on Amazon:

I could be accused of the same snobbery about hi-fi (as it used to be called). When I was living near where NIkkster is now, I saw an ad for a B&O hifi for £105, an outrageous bargain..

I made it my reward to myself for giving up smoking. Fantastic item. It was aprivate sale, and I got to hear it before taking it. I doubt it's forgeable and it never crossed my mind to get it checked for authenticity for any means. Didn't look for a receipt. I could recognise it for what it was.

If it turned out I'd been duped but it was a "good" forgery and looked and sounded as good as an original B&O I'd probably stick with it and keep using it. And think, more fool me, but I’ve got something whose quality I can judge for myself. The fact it might drive B&O out of business would be terrible, but I wouldn’t chuck it into the bin on that account..

The fact that a fancy watch can be forged at all and people can be taken in byit bothers me at some level. It suggests that one of the most faked thingsabout it is the apparent good taste and knowledge and discrimination of the buyer.

I tried Nivea early on when I thought it was just a new intolerance to Est!e Lauder night repair! It really upsets me, as does daywear :(. (I had a sample from a gift set, and DH has it, I should have sent it to you, its a delicious moisturiser, I love the clean almost avocado and cucumber smell.

I think its just too much sun tbh, I forgot my sun screen a done of days ago. :)

Ouch! Slap lots on for the next few days, then?

I was looking just now at the weather forecast for Tresco, as we're considering going there on holiday - and, bizarrely for the UK, it's forecast to be the same temperature at all times of day and night for the next 5 days, wtihin a degree or two - max low and high predicted as 17 C and 19C respectively.

Thanks but we need SR18-4 which they don't have as it is an older model. The official ones are £17.33 for 4 which means it is probably better value to buy a new toothbrush, however there are also sellers selling them from £7 but these ar ethe ones that may be fakes.

It's strange how different peoples' skin can be. I can only use daywear, Nivea and ANR... Anything else and I feel my skin will peel off.

Good luck finding a solution. Aloe gel? I can use that too, but not sure that's much of a recommendation.

I now have 1.5 kilos (approx 3.5lbs) of raspberries. I fear this is rather a lot of raspberries and I have yet to weigh the gooseberries. we don't eat a lot of jam so that's out but I was wondering if cordials is a good idea? Probably raspberry and gooseberry. Can you whizz gooseberry into a smoothie?

Any other ideas? Something without pips would be best as I hate finding them in my molars. :)
