Fair enough. A handful of frozen peas could be added at minimal cost though or a leak as well as the onion.
My opinion is that you're probably better off eating 3 tomatoes than a Mars Bar.
Undoubtedly!
I am watching the funniest infomercial ever.....for an expending hose. How they kept a straight face making it is hard to imagine.0 -
Re the fruit and veg thing, I think each country has its own guidelines and they aren't the same. IIRC France's is 9 portions per day as the recommended norm.
I try to eat as many colours as possible, but always struggle with yellow. There's only so much yellow pepper and sweetcorn that I want to eat. Does anyone have any delicious yellow recommendations that I'm missing out on?
The other colours I find easy, including purple as I love beetroot and blackcurrants. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Some good ideas there, thanks lir. I've not seen yellow courgettes or pattypan squash, so will need to keep an eye out for those. I like melons, especially watermelons (but they aren't yellow) so could probably eat more of that. Tomatoes I need to be careful with as I can't eat many raw without getting a rash (cooked is fine). I don't like bananas. Lemons I do like but I don't know I'd be able to ingest enough for it to constitute one of my 5 per day - too sharp!
Thanks... I'll have a good look for those when at the supermarket tomorrow. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? That's the thing with all 'health' things from Govts. They come out with something, spend a fortune on badly-put-together information about how bad it is.... few years later "we were wrong". After 30-40 years you're tired of all the messages and have tuned out decades ago.0

For Yellow, M&S page says: Apricots, Lemons, Pineapple, Bananas, Grapefruit, Sweetcorn, Peppers (yellow), Yellow Tomatoes, Onions, Garlic

I do like to keep in the cupboard small 25p tins of pineapple - as that's a meal when I CBA.... open tin, eat the pineapple out of the tin with a spoon.0 -

Tarte au Citroen I find to be a particularly toothsome way to eat lemons.
Pineapple & apricots are both yellow. Cous cous with (dried) apricot and mint is delicious with roast lamb and red wine gravy. Pretty cheap and tasty too if you get NZ frozen lamb leg and stud it with garlic, rosemary/thyme and anchovies or use shoulder.
Cheese is yellow. Surely cheese can be an honourary vegetable.0 -

I think other countries do quote larger numbers. I wonder what's the maximum number of portions you can eat without overeating?Tarte au Citroen I find to be a particularly toothsome way to eat lemons.

It allows them to avoid meat while competing with the rest of us for an early grave from CHD.:(
Unfortunately I think the famous nutritionist Frankie Boyle claimed that chips count as minus five towards your five a day.:DThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
