Carpets in bedrooms and on stairs. Hall, kitchen, bathroom are wood. But it's shoes off in the house here!
The thing with shows off is that as soon as you use a bathroom where a man has piddled it all seems a bit of a waste of time. Having seen the spray on a tv show from a very clean man with no determinable splashes.
And of course, there is the issue of flush dispersal.
I am easy going, we have no shoes on ATM. Neither do the dogs or cats...but we are all wandering in and out barefoot. I am under no illusion whatsoever that my floor is or could be as clean as I would like. So I have learned to relax about it.0 -
Considering that a big portion of airborne bacteria in cities originates in pets it's quite amazing that pet ownership is considered to be a good thing healthwise. Pet owners have to develop a bit of a mental blind spot about this or it would do their heads in.
It's not so much a mental blind spot, its a tacit acceptance. Most of us are also aware certain exposure makes one's immune system a little stringer (in the way of what doesn't kill you I guess). Super clean houses bring their own physical health problems (and sometimes mental health ones) so its sometimes good to just accept you keep a certain level of huge in and get on with life.
Sadly...often that certain level is hard to attain0 -
Me too, just 3 carpeted rooms left here which will all become solid wood eventually. The Only bit that may stay carpet is the stairs and upstairs corridor, I think wood on these will just be too noisy.Sometimes on rightmove you see carpet in the bathroom - to me that is just gross.
I can confirm, from experience, that carpets in bathrooms, osteoporosis/weak shaky hands, frailty and colostomy bags do NOT mix.0 -
As for fruit in savoury dishes - there is just one word for that. No!
I've even been served bananas in some indian curries (very few do this, but when they do I like it).0 -
Tesco do free eye tests, plus prescription glasses starting at £15. That covers single vision lenses, but complicated prescriptions. They'll try to up-sell you, of course, but I have some of their £15 glasses, and they work very well indeed.
Umm, PN, you there...?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I am cooking ribs (first time ever) tonight and they are marinating in apple and quince jelly among other things.
Funnily enough I forgot tonight's salad is also fruit as savoury...a watermelon mint and feta salad. It's a combination second to almost none and I won't mind not having the 1100 cal per serving ribs while I'm munching minty salty watermelon.0 -
Lir, watermelon, mint and feta are three of my favourite things but I have never had them together. You have definitely piqued my interest there. How do you dress it?Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Cheese = the reason why there can be fat vegetarians.
Speaking from experience here... I'd suggest that there's also bread, sweets, chocolate, pasta, pastries... All of which have aided in my achievement of this fine figure. Apparently there's alcohol too, but I don't really do that. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Personally I don't dress it. I shred the mint, cube the melon and feta. ( though admittedly the feta is probably better crumbled) The watermelon produces juice on cubing and I like to keep it really light (taste and calorific) and clean. You could even blend a little of the melon and mint for a more binding dressing.
I am pretty sure I can come up with a 'proper' dressing idea though if you want. I'd. Steer very clear of any flavoured oil...the three leads one to think of a good Greek big in of but I don't think that would be nice.0
