Carpets in bedrooms and on stairs. Hall, kitchen, bathroom are wood. But it's shoes off in the house here!

The GP was happy for you to travel before seeing the clinic?

    I didn't mention it.

I am venturing out shortly ...to the beach.

Parquet in sitting room, tiles ( horrible) in kitchen. Carpets upstairs and in hall. Shoes are welcome although I do ask dd to take wellies off before going upstairs.

That's the thing with all 'health' things from Govts. They come out with something, spend a fortune on badly-put-together information about how bad it is.... few years later "we were wrong". After 30-40 years you're tired of all the messages and have tuned out decades ago.

I strongly suspect that most government "messages" are formulated by a bunch of people who have no idea what they're doing and just make it all up as they go along.

In fact I am coming more and more to the view that the entire world is like that!

But only if it's a yellow Citroen. Would be fairly safe with Tarte au Citron though. [pedant mode off]

As for fruit in savoury dishes - there is just one word for that. No!

    Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Cumberland sauce. Redcurrent jelly in roast lamb gravy. Berries with game. Apple sauce with pork. Cider gravy with pork. Chutney with cold cuts.

    That's Northern European cooking heritage.

This from my wife's training at work:

Never seen one of those. Most of my working life I never saw the point of paying for a test that, if I needed glasses, would then require me to pay more money I didn't have for glasses.... seemed better to just not know :)

Being always alone/single, income's always been close to covering the basics

Even if you don't get glasses, eye tests are worthwhile because eye tests will detect several forms of brain cancer before they are otherwise symptomatic, when they are curable.

It's pretty easy to get them free.

I'm afraid that however lovely it is, Tarte au Citroen comes even further behind chocolate covered raisins in the 5-a-day stakes.

I love, love love, some fruit and savoury dishes. Northafrican food, is heavenly.

I am cooking ribs (first time ever) tonight and they are marinating in apple and quince jelly among other things.
