    HELPPPP, please!!!!

After years of denigrating my cooking, my wife has delegated me to cook dinner tonight. It needs to be cod fillets - actually 'cod loins' on the packet. What do the NPs think I should I do with these? (I did think of binning them and making reservations.)

What you need is a phone, and a takeaway menu...;)

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

One of my problems with the BBC is an editorial policay that 'all opinions are valid and should be aired' as in cases where 99% of experts beleive one thing and 1 person has a different view, both sides are presented and because they both get a similar amount of time it is easy for the casual viewer to get the impression that there is a real debate and that either 'side' might be correct.

Don't quite agree with this. After all, the BNP don't get much airtime do they?

Personally, it seems that alternate viewpoints are give airtime (I wouldn't say equally), with certain viewpoints being critically challenged.

In fairness, & in the interests of journalism, they have to give the other side the opportunity to comment, to prevent being accused of doing a hatchet job.

Documentaries on ITV/channel 5 are the alternatives, & in my experience, they make shocking viewing in so many ways!

Very easy option, one of my standbys....

Out in a ceramic baking dish with some very small new potatoes and some smallish but not cherry tomatoes, some sweet onion cut into rings and the rings separated, and some pitted black olives. Drizzle with olive oil. Put in oven. It's done wen the potato is just cooked. (If one were more organised I guess one should parboil the potatoes first rather than over cook the fish or undercook the potatoes!

Alternatively, IMO you cannot beat a simple pan fried white fish with beurre blanc. I like to add capors.

Thanks, LIR, that sounds perfect. I like capers too. We've got those, but I'll check whether we have the potatoes and cherry tomatoes. Do you want to pop over and share dinner?

How long do new potatoes take to parboil? My experience is that fish is cooked in about 3 minutes.

It takes a bit longer in the oven than in a pan. The idea is the tomatoes just 'flop' and the onion stays crisp.

I am afraid I am terrible on timings.....I would just par boil them till I felt they were 'parboiled' to a blade.

Alternatively I suppose you could chuck the potato in the oven before adding everything else with the fish.

One pan dishes make washing up so much easier.:)

    Poor lj.

I have been baking my cold out of me in the garden. I have factor fifty slathered everywhere waist up that sees the sun, and nothing on legs well, ok, I did some thing a bit wicked and rubbed coconut oil on legs to try and get them to catch up with the arms which I didn't want tanning at all, but the dogs honed in and licked every inch of my legs. Despite cream arms got a bit more tan I think, and legs are still bottle white:rotfl:
