BTW, I take it all back about being easy, this diet lark is getting much harder in phase 2.

Life of Pi is worth reading. It makes zoos easier to understand as does visiting this one .
OK it hasn't got pandas and everything else but it does have animals with space that don't look stressed and all fitted into a walkable area. Used to take students there a lot. Well worth a visit if you're across the channel.
Wasn't there once a series of 5 minute late night tV shows called something like Grub! when Channel 4 started , teaching students how to make simple meals for one? It needs to come back. Especially as so much of the country is cooking single meals. It's no coincidence that TV cooking shows are all about people feeding each other in groups of at least 4.
Nikkster in your town my flatmates got into a rota of dinner parties with locals where we all cooked for each other. The Dutch locals' idea of meals was like sausage and mash or pea soup which didn't seem foreign at all. There'd be more variety now I reckon.
You might well have got surprised by how cosmopolitan your area is as it's not remotely famous for it at all.:)There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

What's phase 2?
All phases of dieting make me grumpy
<grumps>...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

I think that Whipsnade is the only zoo I've been to that I've felt reasonably comfortable with. The point is that it's vast, so there's loads of space for the animals and a fairly natural habitat**. Of course, from a visitor's point of view it's not great, with all the animals miles away.
**When I say fairly natural habitat, do you really want to see lions being given live prey, say?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Awful.
The first month was an "ease you into it" thing, lots of food but just much healthier food, so grilled chicken and salads, fruits, that sort of thing. But still around 2000 calories a day.
This month is a bit more extreme, with some very low cal days (under 1200) alternating with some medium calorie days (1500-1750), and a lot more raw veggies, plain grilled fish, etc. Oh, and no alcohol whatsoever.
Last month I was moaning about having to eat yoghurt and granola for breakfast instead of a full English.
This month I'd love to have yoghurt and granola for breakfast....“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
