Well, some of them are. Some of them are not.I can't do a Friday or weekend. That shouldn't stop you all if that's all you can do. This isn't my meetup.
Yes it is.... for the reason lir has already said:lostinrates wrote: »Umm, apart from the rest of us can meet another month when you are not in the country:)
London on a weeknight is not possible for me. I would probably be quite happy to stay out late and then drive for 2-3 hours to get home in the early hours, but it wouldn't be sensible, and anyway, nobody would want my kids for a sleepover on a weeknight. (From my house to the London end of the M4 is about 2 hours, and then it depends where I've got to get to once I'm in London. Driving is cheaper than the train (usually) and gives me flexibility and security. Using public transport alone late at night in a place I don't know is outside my comfort zone. This may see very feeble of me to you Londoners, but I've never lived in London, so I'm not in the habit of it, and since I don't drink anyway, having to remain fit to drive doesn't put limits on enjoying the night out. Walking into a pub to meet NP, even the ones I haven't yet met IRL, feels fine, though.)Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Londoners discover ... London's not handy for people .... shock/horror
Fact is, for most people, London is an expedition.0 -

N'uh, I find London easier than anywhere much west of here but nearer. The road and rails spiral out of London, for a disparate group London is a good southern point IMO.
Tbh, I find London easier, albeit longer, than where you are. Roads are decent.
Thinking about it, I am probably not so much further from the big city near lemonjelly than parts of London, and yet certainly would find London easier than that.0 -
I am further north than you, lir, and further west as well. The big city near lj is easily ok for an evening out for me - as long as I don't have to pay by the hour for the babysitting. I've done that before. I've never done London from here as anything shorter than a weekend.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I used to do london for the night out when I lived near where you are (well, nearer the armpit of the world, then Ross.) seriously don't know where I got the energy from. My car then was also exceptionally cheap to run.0 -

:eek::eek::eek::eek:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

That will be it. Although I was fine before we met.
I love animals and exhibited a previously unknown timid and nervous disposition...as we crept away from a herd of deer and ran away from a barking dog.
In a "nut"shell, I am fine. It's her.:D0 -

So true....:rotfl:“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

I used to do London for the night out from Oxford, which is only an hour further east than where I am now. But then nights out were a much more frequent part of my life in those days.Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
