Could you not drive to somewhere like Southampton parkway, train from there is only 1 hr to Waterloo and it might be we then meet close to Waterloo as well so no tube.
Also if we are doing a kitty we could make an adjustment for travel costs as mine is zero it would only be fair if I put in more.
St James Park certainly get's my vote as a suitable venue. LIR it wil be a real shame if you can't make it bt obviously you have a job to do - what if it were a Friday evening and you could travel home with FIR?
SC perhaps you should do coffee with a single NP first - I would recomend Viva who is either the sanest, most sensible person I know or a serial killer with an absolutely first class alter ego.
Viva is a doll. Truly lovely, intelligent amd sensitive person who I think would get on with anyone. She'd be a lovely first np to meet:)
Michaels, its not work holding me back, and lord knows I'd love to see you again, and the others. I just dunno. I really need to see what's happening w/ me nearer the time.0 -

I know it took you ages to get to the other big S, but i cannot work out why. It should have taken about 45 mins I think. That is direct to Waterloo, but longer and probably a bit pricier, cannot remember. The excellent thing is trains run to there till very late at night.0 -
London would be way too far for me, & definitely would be un-do-able on a weeknight...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0

There's the Anchor and Hope on The Cut near Waterloo which is a great pub. Ace food too.
There's The Fire Station, pretty much next door to Waterloo which is of variable quality. It used to be great but was less so on my last visit but that was 5 years ago.
All Bar One (Slug and Lettuce? one of those) over by County Hall is ok. A MacPub really but not so bad for all that.
I can't do a Friday or weekend. That shouldn't stop you all if that's all you can do. This isn't my meetup.
Umm, apart from the rest of us can meet another month when you are not in the country:)0 -

I meant to s , not here. Fwiw, I used to go to outskirts of your town a lot, and it never once took me two hours! Even when dh (a veritable Sunday driver) drove. I think my route was almost the most 'obvious' bar a small back road diversion.
One of my clients goes from near me to your town three times a week and says she does it in an hour ten /fifteen. She drives fASt though.0 -

Last time I drove West, it took me well over an hour to clear the first 20 miles - that was due to being held up in daytime/town traffic though as there were radio reports of closures on the A road, so I went via both local towns to emerge the far side of that.
Mid Cornwall, door to door, is 3.5 hours for me.0 -
One of those white leaf type baths is on sale in Essex. I don't trust my car, and I am trying to decide if I should hire a car to go and see it, sit in it. It's not for the bathroom we are having done last January (would lol, but just not funny!) but our ensuite. We could leave it in a barn for a while or have it plumbed in when the other bathroom is done then pull it out and re plumb when ready to do our ensuite properly.
Decisions, decisions.0 -

You are going all the way there just to try it out for size? If you like it, can it go in the back of the car/in a horse box?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

No, we don't have a horse box. And it will not fit in the car. I don't think. I might try and borrow parents car, as its more reliable. I don't fancy hiring a van tbh. I'd rather have someone move it for us.
I jus want to see if its the right size for the two of us and if we actually like it in the flesh. It's not a normal bath (albeit not an amethyst one). It would fit in the new en suite and I like that its not a slavish faux repro sort of thing.0
