Any recommendations?
Yes, but not sure what they are all called....so will have to find where they all are on the shelves. Huger games springs to mind as an obvious example. Older ones...come lucky april, I think we read that at school...but there really are LOTS. As in more of these that fifty shades of grey rip offs. (Actually there is also one called fifty shades of grey bu jasper fforde...., I thought it was the first in a planned trilogy but I think only the first happened...then came THE fifty shades and who knows now.
Seriously, lots of them.0 -

Welcome to my world.
DS2 is 6'1.5" and weighs just over 9st. His BMI is about 17.5. His brother is not much heavier and only slightly shorter. They eat 4 meals a day (an extra but important evening meal at 11pm), weight gaining protein shakes and nash on crisps and fizzy drinks, yet don't gain weight.
OH has a BMI of about 22 and is 5' 11" and feels heavier than he has ever done in his life.
Me on the other hand has to be careful and would like to lose half stone. Is 98% 2 standard deviations from 100%? I can't even remember if it works like that. I've forgotten so much statistics; it's really depressing
98% is not 2 standard deviations, assuming that your distribution is Normal.

Yes, I wondered about travel costs. I haven't quite got up to speed with where everyone lives etc but seem to think there is a Westcountry contingent of sorts so thought I'd throw it out there as a possibility. Train might be an option?
I really enjoy this thread because (warning: brown nosing ahead) you are all such interesting and varied people and I'm quite often prompted to go off and google things after lurking here. That said, I can't keep up with the speed the thread moves at so dip in and out and as a result understand perhaps 50% of what's going on at any time and am likely to continue to make impractical suggestions0 -

4-5 hours each way and 3 changes each way. Cost £40 or so.I really enjoy this thread because (warning: brown nosing ahead) you are all such interesting and varied people and I'm quite often prompted to go off and google things after lurking here.0 -

Haha, I'd take that if I knew where she lived but I'm kind of shooting in the dark as things stand. I'm fairly good on my railway routes but not THAT good.

I need help!
Can anyone come up with birthday present ideas? The person involved will be 43, doesn't like girly things like handbags or shoes, loves books but is very choosy which ones and is not at all materialistic.
Yep, my birthday next week and everyone keeps asking me what I want...beggered if I know!
Could you have a day going to something you like/would like to do...I know you have an interest in a two wheeled sport.
Generally I prefer doing things to owning things so things I have had are often 'holidays for the head' :
Tickets to exhibitions (Vermeer, Michealangelo,Opera, Concerts)
Courses - home decorating techniques, Flower arranging, chicken keeping (i am still rubbish at all of them)
Spa/Massage- days & treats
Chickens + chicken housing etc
On the gift front I often get:
Small things that would be meaningful to me: Pretty labels for jars, nice containers/tins, bath stuff that it is known I like & will use, salt scrub (Origins), shopping list type notepads.
Silk socks - I love silk socks. Preferred sock type. They do run to holes quite quickly though so new ones always welcome, Patara are the usual source.
Scarves/Wraps - Natural fibres - cotton, silk, cashmere - I also give these too if I am confident of colours/patterns that will be liked.
Good belt for Jeans
Bigger items
Some handbags -from OH - capacious/practical as I am not that girly either.
Jeans - Levi's, M&S0 -
It's like Fahrenheit 451. They'll track him down and shoot him on live TV. And if they can't find him, they'll shoot someone else on live TV, and the face will be a bit out of focus.
They filmed that near where Chewie's moving to. I used to live near there myself and was surprised one veening to recognise it in the telly.
Not too many dystopian books but many movies. Blade Runner; robot servants rebelling, ozone too thin to go outside in the day, non-stop rain, everybody living in tenements while the better-off live off-world, giant companies controlling industry, animals mnostly extinct. And still looking like Leicester Square on a wet saturday night.:DThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I'd have to go to Reading, change, then head West from there. Drive = 3 hours, train = 6 hours - and the train for me is pricier.
Actually I think you can getthe station near me, and change onto one to Cornwall. My pause is that I am not sure if the station where you are comes this way direct or just one to the east of you.0 -
