By which I mean log on, find out basic information on BMDs etc. We're also taught what's in the local archives - personally I had a great day looking at Great Seals, restoration of parchment and got to see the vaults!
If Family History is something you're interested in it is a great place to work. Lunchtime I can walk to a public computer, sign on and go. Also through my work I got a chance to meet with a professional genealogist. Furthermore, if I decide I need a book on heraldry or surnames or something, I'm in the right place. Finally, because we work closely with the archives (this is the case in most areas of the country), I know some really good people that I can go ask if I get stuck.
If you can simply buy subscriptions and access information to your heart's content..... it's all out there, somewhere. But ... if not ... you go in pointless circles and end up on lolcats instead.0 -
Thought it was 1 April, never done this before
So we're all good then!
Although it only took Santander only 5 minutes to open my account online. which was very nice of them..
I'll need to cash them in anyway when I get a house, which should be this year as I'm fed up of not having a place that's fixed.0 -
I will try to explain my absence from NP over the past number of days but having accepted an offer for our Bungalow we have been filling in forms and also trying to find out why Tasha has been off her food and running a temperature for almost a week now.
She has been in and out of the vets for tests that reveiled some unhappy reading. From her earlier medicine which escapes me at the moment then at another vet visit she was found to be suffering from a Respiratory Infection which the vet prescribed tablets after giving her an injection which did not work at all, so we took Tasha back again to the vets and then she was found to have Severe Anemia and a further check though an XRay found that she had a Tumour that was pressing upon he lung.
The vet said that an operation to revove it would cause her great distress considering that she was over 13 years old and said that he would have to leave the desicion to my OH and I to discuss.
We could not see her going through anymore discomfort and decided that there was only one course to take so she passed away with my OH arms around her.
I hope that you can understand that if I have made spelling mistakes or grammer mistakes you will forgive me as I we are so distressed at this moment and truly hope that we took the correct decision for our darling friend Tasha that we are going to miss so much. Thank you all for being our friends. God Bless.0 -

I went to the Isle of Wight last year with my mum (we spent a night in the New Forest, went to the Isle of Wight for a night, then spent the next day in the New Forest, including time spend cooing over little baby ponies. We drove back via Cerne Abbas, then my mum got slightly obsessed with showing me white horses on hillsides. Day ended with a slightly terrifying drive across the Cotswolds back to the land of the Bard. Memorable trip though
I'm going back to the Isle of Wight later this year - this time I'm volunteering at a festival, and hopefully seeing lots of bands in between. With any luck it will have stopped snowing by then :eek:0 -
So sorry to hear your news Bertie. I have been there with my beloved pet at that time too and it is terribly sad and distressing, but I hope you gain some comfort in knowing that Tasha will have been less distressed because she had the family with her at her time of passing. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Oh crikey. I didn't see spirit's post earlier. What a horrible week this has been for the NPs and the ones close to them. It's not snowed down this way. Just twice this winter. One day x2. All gone by the next day.0
