Likewise. And as bugslet said, have no doubt that she felt lucky to have had you and your family in her life x0 -

Actually, it's your DUTY to do these things. Because you are in a good position, and are able to take these people on, it is your duty to take them on before they do the same to somebody else who is not in a position to do anything about it.
DUTY......
What PN said. And about the boiler people too.Our lovely friend died this afternoon.
We said goodbye to her last night and I am glad for her that she is not in pain.
We were very lucky to have had her in our lives.
Hugs Spirit. Glad you had the chance to say good bye.just opened a new isa account, think i will miss this year's allowance. meh.
I opened one recently and my paperwork came within the week. If yours does too you should be able to get the money in before the deadline.lemonjelly wrote: »No idea atm lir. As I say we're restricted to the uk, & 4/5 day breaks. Liked cornwall last year, very scenic and relaxing. May go there again. Considering liverpool, cambridge, blackpool sands, weymouth and tenby as options. We like going where we've never been. Like the look of holkham beach.
Everyone is just bouncing ideas about at the mo...
Umm... who is "we"? Or am I sticking my nose in too far?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I needed to meet up with a young lady and her partner today, so we met at the local McDonalds. It's warm, etc...
She had just come home from hospital, after 3 days there, when she apparently didn't eat at all. Why not, I asked? "I couldn't eat their food. I'm very particular about what I eat," she replied.
I will leave readers to work out what she did next.
Well, the lettuce is washed in bleach or something awful isn't it? I suppose that makes it 'hygienic'.
Ime the best thing to have in hospitals if you can chew is a sandwich. Ideal or what I would normally eat its not, but its rarely totally I edible and it can sit and wait while you eat it slowly without the detrimental impact of cooling down like hot food. But mainly fruit. If you have had a general anaesthetic you need fibre anyway, and fruit is refreshing. The only thing is its hard to clean your hands after all the sticky sorts of fruit and they don't like to leave you with a bread and butter plate and a sharp knife to prep fruit.0 -

I notices the 'we ' too.
Yeah, the boiler people is under way, we are preparing a case alongside pursuing the complaints procedure so that if the complaints procedure is found unsatisfactory then we don't take too long to push the button on a suit. See, I keep telling people I am ill housed with the nice people.
Really shockingly the second tier of complaint bodies have writ tent o day saying we will hear from them in 21 days, That seems a long time. They have written to boiler people and should hear from them in seven days apparently. It all takes such
a long time considering the ultimate issue...that you cannot have a third party come and repair the bxggxr until resolve is reached.0 -

Just because you can and do stand up for yourselves doesn't make you or fir not nice! Not in the slightest0 -

No. But we win. And we are(legally) very good at that. And sometimes its not very nice. I cannot really give examples of that ATM, too sensitive. Actually... I started this sort of thing long before dh. One of my schools settled out of court with me (part of the reason I decided to have a year out at 16-17 was something that happened at school). My parents were lived when I refused to go back (I did most of the autumn term) and locked myself in when visiting home, found a solicitor so all my parents had to do was sign stuff. The solicitor was a governer at another school like mine, which offered me a scholarship place to do sixth form, but I decided by then I wanted time out and to go into the normal state system, which is how I ended up in a 'normal' college for a year. Fwiw, we would never act at all if we were not both in the right and felt pushed. Sometimes it's good to roll with normal punches. We know people are human and f up sometimes. We do too. (In many, many ways) But push us, and we are both very content to take action that we know we will win. Get things wrong and sort them out and we will happily accept a minor loss as a good will gesture.0 -

Thought it was 1 April, never done this before
So we're all good then!
Although it only took Santander only 5 minutes to open my account online. which was very nice of them..0 -

If it's just for fun you can do my "emigrated.... then what" research next
Both really. All library staff where I am are expected to have a basic understanding of Ancestry and Find My Past. By which I mean log on, find out basic information on BMDs etc. We're also taught what's in the local archives - personally I had a great day looking at Great Seals, restoration of parchment and got to see the vaults!
If Family History is something you're interested in it is a great place to work. Lunchtime I can walk to a public computer, sign on and go. Also through my work I got a chance to meet with a professional genealogist. Furthermore, if I decide I need a book on heraldry or surnames or something, I'm in the right place. Finally, because we work closely with the archives (this is the case in most areas of the country), I know some really good people that I can go ask if I get stuck. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
