Umm... who is "we"? Or am I sticking my nose in too far?

Friends. My best mates all shared a 5 bed house years ago. A couple have moved away, but there was a big crossover of visitors, & some or all of us go away as a group. Sometimes we camp, others we travelodge/laterooms/other budget option. Invariably one or more of us has been studying, or between jobs, so we have always done 'budget' style holidays.

Several don't have/can't afford passports, hence restricted to the uk, though that isn't a problem as we all like the uk.:)

No snow reports from here.... just spent another 10 hours wasting hours fannying around on t'Internet performing unnecessary and random people searches.

Banged out two quick 'Ubs though ... and, pleasingly, NDG commented on one. I must be on her watch list and/or she was bored as hell.

    What are 'Ubs?

    and where is NDG?

Well, the lettuce is washed in bleach or something awful isn't it? I suppose that makes it 'hygienic'.

It is all shocking. For example, the beef is compress cooked, and from frozen is cooked in only 40 seconds. The onions are dehydrated, along with whatever else they do, and reconstituted. The chicken would do a better job on the bottom of my shoes than most synthetic modern soles.
    I notices the 'we ' too. :D

Our boiler was working a bit this morning, so we have got the house up back into double digits. :). Just a few flakes of snow here, mostly wet and grey and Bleak.

Nevertheless, we have made the best of it. :).

    So we're all good then!

Although it only took Santander only 5 minutes to open my account online. which was very nice of them..

Am I the only one suprised by this?

I'd have thought that all board guides had an isa.

Isle of Wight... it's like going abroad as there's a boat ... but it's not.
    :)

Must admit, IoW/channel islands has been suggested.
    I assume you don't need a passport.
Do NPs have good experience of these?

I don't understand them at all... I've got one for the last 5 years, not got round to this years. I'd like to be able to move them to the best one/rate, but couldn't begin to fathom out how that's best done really...... so it's another thing that I'll never get round to.

I'll need to cash them in anyway when I get a house, which should be this year as I'm fed up of not having a place that's fixed.

PN it is actually ludicrosl simple. Honestly. On the savings forum thereis an isa sub forum. Kazza has a best isas thread on there continually updated. The thread tells you the best isas that allow transfers in from previous years, and those which don't.

To transfer your account from one bank to another, you simply fill in the transfr form at the new bank - usually only 1 side of a4 - and the do all the work, within 2 weeks usually.

If you're crafty, you can double your interest for short prids. Halifax say they pay interest from date of receipt of the transfer form. I trnsfed one to them a couple o year ago, sending in a transfer form on a 60 day notie account. But my instructions were to serve te notice period.:D

I did a 'Reserve and Collect" through Quidco. I later decided I didn't want the item, fully expecting the Quidco transaction to be declined. This morning I find out they've credited my account with £11 :rotfl: I then remembered this happening a couple of years ago, although on that occasion I went to collect the item and it was out of stock. The amount was only 50p so not worthwhile telling them about. They obviously don't bother checking these Quidco transactions, and it must be costing them thousands. I can guarantee there are people who realise they can abuse the system. It will be interesting to see what B&Q have to say.

I went to the Isle of Wight last year with my mum (we spent a night in the New Forest, went to the Isle of Wight for a night, then spent the next day in the New Forest, including time spend cooing over little baby ponies. We drove back via Cerne Abbas, then my mum got slightly obsessed with showing me white horses on hillsides. Day ended with a slightly terrifying drive across the Cotswolds back to the land of the Bard. Memorable trip though :)

I'm going back to the Isle of Wight later this year - this time I'm volunteering at a festival, and hopefully seeing lots of bands in between. With any luck it will have stopped snowing by then

The new forest is also an idea put forward. I thnk someone knows someone who went their last year.

I'm trying to gt as many ideas as possible, then will order brocure, and set up a laptop or 2 with all of us together bouncing the options around over a table full of food.

Some idiots I know set off in the snow to go see te script in london tonight and they're driving.
