    Thank you Viva :)

CK: I think if I do end up finding an investment property we may end up moving in for PPR relief reasons. In fact although I am half way through a remortgage I am wondering whether we should stay with the existing lender in case I need to look for consent to let in the near future.

Legally speaking though, 50% of the profit would be subject to CGT, from my understanding of the rules, with no relief for the spending on the property, again on my understanding of the rules. That's unless you want 2 children to look after :)

Out of interest, who are you with at the moment? HSBC have been good at CTL, as have Natwest with us in the past. Abbey (now Santander) refused outright to keep us on the same offer, as it was 'only' 2 years through a 5 year deal (this was to buy the house we're currently in, so just before the marked went lopsided)

In other news, we've removed the house from the market (been on since May last year) as noone seems to be able to get a mortgage

There was a lovely house we'dve loved, however I can't see anyone paying £3000 a month to rent here, unfortunately :(

It sounds like he might have some problems vis-a-vis his mental health. I've been in his shoes albeit when I was a lot younger and with no responsibilities.

Sometimes it's best to stop helping someone in that situation for a bit and to force them to seek medical help if they can't cope.

    Just a thought.
  • I think it's a church flower show maybe.... as a name that sounded like a church was mentioned.

... add the words "church" with "show" - and a very old lady enquiring.... has to be flowers I bet.

    Jam? Cakes?

Sounds like a horrible situation for you. If you are really concerned about people's safety perhaps you should raise it with social services.

I'm a big believer in tough love sometimes but I guess with those close to you involved it is difficult.

I have in the past raised concerns with SS. It was hard but I had to put teh children first.

At this moment he is 'fine' so SS would not take any action. It is that I forsee his latest action as putting the little stability they have in jeopardy as he blows the surplus he has from the house sale on whatever, and in the medium term fails to maintain the barge.:(

It was the safety specifics of it being a barge that worried me.

I'm sorry that you have all that to deal with Spirit. Sometimes, even with family, you just have to let people live with their mistakes :(
