I woke up too early this morning and I am now really really grumpy. Also stunning realisation that I only have one more weekend before holiday and very busy weeks not helping. Loads to do as well as take car for mot. Bah

Do you hold them for a special offer? I'd have thought you'd be better off with them on your offset mortgage.

I guess the normal exchange rate is so poor compared to Tesco points that I cling on to them hoping they will do a special offer making them worth a little bit more....

We pay a monthly DD for to our oil supplier. It has just gone up from £113 pm to £187:eek: There are no underpayments in calculation as we paid top ups this is just based on usage/current prices.

Electricity is £61pm it went up from £44 when it came off a fixed deal and we have a woodburner in the sitting room.We only have a small house with 3 working adults in it. I am balking at this.

This must reflect the cold weather, I think it is realistic but a huge increase Are other NPs having the same inflationary experience and what if anything are you doing about it?

My electric bill has also gone up, but by nowhere near that much. I have to factor in the rises in January anyway which weren't reflected in my DD plus the additional cost of heating in this cold period. Last year my DD went down from £90pm to £70pm, they've put it back up again because it wasn't covering the amount used for the cold snap. That's for a 3 bed all electric house heated to a comfortable temperature using E10. So I have no other energy bills. Two adults living here. I don't like being cold, so house tends to be heated to about 22 degrees.

Our gas has gone up, it should be about zero balance by now and it is £300 in debit. I generally pay a top up rather than increase the DD.

    Electric hasn't changed much.

Mass paper clearout. Before we moved in 2006 we sold a whole lot of investments/ savings/ ISAs/ TESSAs/ TOISAs and goodness knows what. The paperwork filled 2 lever arch files. Not masses of money, I think the average was about £3000, but it was the "save to move" pot that had built up over 13 years since the previous move. Selling them all was a headache in itself and generated even more paperwork, that I never quite got round to sorting. Instead I kept the files with the intention of getting round to it sometime.

Inland Revenue require you to keep 6 years of paperwork, so that time has now past and they can all be shredded.

I charge my phone overnight and give it a bit of a boost at work.

It's an increasingly aged iPhone 3GS. Apple will stop supporting it next year so I'd best start saving for a new phone. I'm inclined to get an Android next time as the kids are likely to buy themselves tablets with B'Day money and it would be good to be on the same platform.

Our gas switch just went through so I did a meter reading last night only 1 month after the last regular reading - we have used a huge amount of gas for what should have been a spring month but then I think the 30 day period in question was colder than the average January so probably not too surprising even if a bit dispiriting - only plus was at least it was all at the old cheaper fixed price.

Fixes are so expensive this time that I have gone for variable rate, I can switch to a fixed but it will be interesting to see if the threatened rises do happen or if they are 'scare' tactics.

I have files and files of documents from years ago (about 4 large filing cabinet drawers) that is vaguely filed. the old stuff could probably go but some is probably the only evidence I have of owning varoius things which I guess might be relevant in the event of an insurance claim (assuming the item was destroyed but the paperwork survived). TBH it could probably all go but it just seems easier to buy another filing cabinet than sort it out each time a drawer gets full.
    I think....

    Posh Alert

DD1 went to play at her friend's house yesterday. Friend suggested they play 'Eastenders'. DD wanted to join in but had no idea what the game was about.
