Woo Hoo! A large suitcase containing clothes is in the car and leaving the premises tomorrow :D, we have gone from two wardrobe rails to one
    Must use my stash up!
  • Good evening, I have not managed to sort through any clutter today but I have got some of the laundry and some of the ironing pile done so I guess technically I have got something done.

Am pleased to report the 2 charity bags, 3 big boxes and 5 large framed pictures were not churned around the house. They successfully were collected by local charity.

My world has not ended and the sky has not fallen in like it felt like it would.

    Thanks to all xx

Well done you... Now for the next lot .. :D

I've flung lots in the recycling and filled half a binbag for charity after switching cupboards around. I aim to get it full tomorrow so OH can drop it off.

Mr F took the duplicates + some of the retro/vintage cookery magazines in to town this morning. The first 2 charity shops he visited - didn't want them. The third charity shop almost bit his hand off.
I sat in bed and looked through some of the mags last night - not found any recipes I want to scan yet.

  • Not much sorting of clutter done today as I have spent today sorting and ironing baby clothes but that job is now off my list so back to sorting through clutter tomorrow.
The first job to tackle tomorrow is the rest of the bags of paperwork that are in the bedroom, as I need to make space for the moses basket. I have about 8 bags still to do and 2 boxes so will probably take me most of the day.

I gave some (lovely, outgrown) toys to the local church for their fundraising. They'd been knocking around the understair cupboard for months, sort of anticipating selling them, but the recipient was so thrilled that it eclipsed any financial reward.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

OK I attacked the underthesink cupboard and the under the airing cupboard "hole" (- should have been a bathroom cupboard, but NOOOO, ex knew best so it is just a half boxed pit under the boiler, where lots of bathroom things get lost).

thrown out lots of cleaning things that had gone off/dried out or I'm just never going to use (free samples of scented ironing water LOL!). I will not need to buy fly spray or flea spray for the next 40 years, and have found the red shoe polish for dd's first pair of shoes, which perfectly match my new sandals, hurrah!

this wasn't the most pressing thing to do but "every little helps", the rest of stuff I've accomplished is doing the things I bought stuff for: put the victorian rope path edging around the lawn (bought and stacked in garden over a year ago for this purpose), fixing the garden hose to the wall. I've tried to change a socket that corroded, but it's an electrician job - unfortunately this means one of the 2 circuits in the kitchen is out of action and the big appliances are pulled out and running from extension cables: more clutter and disorganisation.

bins out and food shopping put away. My nemesis: dried washing however is still in baskets in the kitchen. The bedrooms have exploded due to destructo-girl and the chaos kid playing musical beds in the heat. If I am in a room it gets tidier (or stays static), if they are in a room, for seconds or even asleep it's like a tornado has gone through.

....actually I've a confession, the hose was a swanky new retractable one, to replace last years which predictably has kinked and collapsed on itself, with holes along it's length and a habit off popping off the water tap (as the water doesn't get to the end properly the pressure builds up). In short the old one didn't work AT ALL.

shortly after my first post I was feeling smug and congratulatory because I'd recycled the packaging and put the drill away, and then I realised that I'd put the old hose back in the shed. I spent an HOUR going back and fore over throwing it or keeping it just in case. just in case of what? - all manner of things which it wouldn't be the best solution for, it's now in the bin outside but I am a bit fed up that this is still my default mode.

Don't be hard on yourself, you're in the process of unlearning learnt, ingrained behaviour. I had new vinyl flooring fitted 4 weeks ago. I have kept a rolled bit of excess vinyl 'just in case' since! How crazy is that? I KNOW I have to get rid of it as it's not much use.

Silly thing is I've been to the dump at least twice since then and could have taken it.

I'm off to the dump tomorrow morning 1st thing and it will be in the car.

    Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey.

Lobby.. the important fact in all that is that it is now in the bin, where it needs to be.. you did it.. so don't beat yourself up over it taking you hours to throw it out but congratulate yourself on letting it go..
