I have binned half a carrier bag of old recipes that I will never use and sorted the ones on my net book into folders to make it easier to find what I want eg. pork, chcken, veggi, soups etc:D
I have also had a big cook so used up some staples from the larder and recycles the tins.:D
CyclingYorkie 1988:eek::eek::eek:
I have found tins of things maybe 3 or 4 years out at my parents but that is amazing.:)

Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say

it was logical that we should find these things - mum has chronic back problems and the freezer is a chest one! She has been living out of the top third for too long. I found 2 big blue boxes in there - stacked one on top of the other.
She didn't know they were there!
The top box contained stuff from 2003 - 2007, so the bottom box was going to contain older stuff.....
She is not taking it with her when she moves - it is coming to me!
And I am aiming to fill it with whoopsies! And I will keep a record of what goes in there!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
I have been doing well at - nothing coming in plus stuff going.
Today - Mr F came home with a load of retro cooking magazines he found.
I had a quick read - lots of interesting, different recipes in them. So what to do - do I send them straight to the Charity shop so they are out of house? Or keep them to look through for good meal ideas? Then get rid.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Oh thankyou cyclingyorkie that made me (a) chuckle and (b) feel better about my stuff - I am not alone sort of thing
I can see where I was busy yesterday - I have piles of folded clean laundry waiting to go upstairs instead of heaps of dirty washing on the kitchen floor. Washer is on....again; and will be several more times today. Glorious weather for drying again:T
suzitiger - I'm going to have a look at this 'freecycle'. If people really do want a 1980s vintage typewriter/ Majesty magazines/ Elvis clippings they can have them.

Dear All
Delurking with update ..
Those of you who have been on the forum long enough know i should have the user name 'churning queen' because i am good at flinging into charity bags because deep down i know it isn't leaving the house any time soon, those bags wait in the garage, in the back of the car ,in the spare room just about anywhere. I am horrified to think of the amount of time i must waste when i rediscover them and have to resort.
Last week i had one of those moments when a supertidy family member turned up unannounced. I had to hang head in shame whilst trying to close off every door that contains clutter.
Im fed up of it..So the day after i rang a charity and promised them a carful if they could collect by tuesday (Gulp) .
Well 3 boxes and 2 charity bags, 5 large framed pictures are in car so far 1 more box currently filling and a another bag awaiting few items drying on line.My reward is to sit and watch the tennis this afternoon.
So why am i wobbling? I should be pleased with my work but i am wobbling and fretting anyone else do this? Will this improve as i start to really tackle what i've put off so long?0 -

I can honestly say - loads of stuff has gone - this way - no regrets and can't even remember what most of it was. Having decluttered space is wonderful.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Pickle.. it sounds pretty normal to me.. I was like that in the beginning but now I put it in the hallway by the door and every time some goes out they take a bag with them.. It has got easier as I realised my life didn't end with that unneeded stuff gone.. it also meant I had more room to sort what I still had which made releasing the next batch much easier because it hadn't taken the emotion to sort it I didn't owe it anything.
And the realisation that stuff is just that.. it isn't memories or reminders.. those are in my head.. it is just crap taking up room that if I actually think about it I have nothing but contempt for now.
Letting go emotionally, getting rid of that baggage first meant the rest of the baggage could be dealt with.

We have puts lots of stuff in a neighbour's spare room - so we could do house renovations. I have not missed the stuff or needed to use any of it.
A lot of the stuff could be sold on Eba. plus I could do with the money after spending out on the house. I am just not looking forward to having it back in the house again.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Thank you , i feel sure it will pass. I am not seeing great spaces appear yet as there is so much to shift. Most of my bags were never moved off the premises because i planned to car boot ebay etc. Since i never have and have no time it has to go.
I found a book of first class stamps in the clutter so that was a bonus:j0 -

I am struggling with this but my brain is finally getting it:j, heart tries to rule but i have to deal with it . The house is big so the amount of stuff is spread out but i can almost feel every available storage space is bulging with stuff. Therefore stuff we do want and use hasnt got a place. If that makes sense.0
