Hoarding - Springing Ahead

I dont post much here, I just lurk, but always am trying to un-hoard...
Recently I let go of 3 bikes - in an impulsive moment I put a sign on the road saying 'free' and left the bikes there. They all went. They werent great bikes, but I had hung on to them thinking "I could take them apart and sell the parts on ebay like so-and-so did" but after 6 years I never did..
Also, found a lot of old papers and books that I had left in the shed, and rats had got into it. Now, rat nests, wee and poo stinks and there was no saving it or keeping it, so it went on a bonfire. Sadly a lot of my kids old school work and creations
On a more positive and useful note, this 'bonfire' is a length of chicken wire made into a cylinder shape - this is my portable bonfire surround, so I can have small controllable fires all over the place, and put quite a lot on them without the fire spreading out too far, bit like an incinerator. I can have that going for a couple of days while I try to part with things in the sheds, and once youve chucked it on and its burning, theres no changing your mind, its truly gone.''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -
It makes me laugh when people leave the items outside to be taken for free, because I always imagine the humiliation of nobody wanting my stuff! Even though when we lived in the midlands and the council had take your big stuff days, the evening before crawled with people in cars going round the streets to see whether they wanted the stuff being chucked out.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

No much sorting of clutter done here today but I have tidied the living room, done some of the laundry and shredded some paperwork.0
-
No physical decluttering done today as I have spent the day sorting through paperwork so I suppose technically I decluttered some paperwork. Hope everyone is making head way with sorting out their hoard.0

Organised with someone on Freecycle for them to have my cooker in around 3 weeks, and a garden bench that I don't really need to an elderly woman in the village so she can sit outside in the sun.
No no major dr-richarding due to cat.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Hi - I'm still here! Being totally overwhelmed by 'stuff'.
1st DS made the last trip home from this year's student house and brought the rest of his stuff - I arrived home from work last Friday to find what little space I had created overflowing with his abundance
2nd Mum and Dad have had a minor 'flood' in the room where I still had 'stuff' stored. Dad moved everything out so he could remove the sodden carpet, and doesn't want to put it all back -'would I sort it please?' (Seeing as I left home in 1987 I think that's a reasonable request)
3rd DS decided to get a garden chair out of the shed so he could sit in the sun - when shed door was opened we found you can't reach the chairs as they are behind 'stuff' that went in there when we had major work done on the house...
stuff. stuff. stuff. aaaaarghhhhhh
feeling a tad overwhelmed, but I don't think there's any more 'undiscovered' stuff ( I already know about the spare room and the cupboard under the stairs!! - so I now know my starting point.
I've had the 'where do I start?' blues again. Then ...'how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.' kicked in, and it forecasts a glorious weekend, so my first load of towels is in WM. Pegs, washbasket and prop are unearthed.... and I've got access to the laptop as DS was at work last night, and is going out this afti/overnight, so I can post my progress :T
