Dont know about anyone else but I find if I DONT spin too dry I dont get so many creases in things either - usually 800rpm is enough & a good shake before they go on the line. Found a low table in the loft & measured it up for DS Partners shed - fingers crossed hehe
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

good on yer parsniphead re the non-ironing. An ironing friend of mine is amazed how my clothes look fine without ironing - its all in the technique isn't it. Silvasava, I find clothes less creased with a lower speed spin but I do need to get them out on the line as soon as the machine has stopped - and yes a good shake, rattle and roll is the way to go.

my vilest task is dusting -makes me sneeze and no sooner done than needs doing again. I detest the actual process as well. I am an infrequent duster but getting better as the clutter slowly gets less. I will never be someone who dusts and polishes the whole house every day... well I never polish anyway.

I confess to having several decluttering areas on the go simultaneously and I really need to finish these before starting the next lot. I get bored after a while! So next aim is finish all old hoarding hot spots before starting on new ones.

Progress is slow here but I've reconciled myself to the fact that we live in a small house with insufficient storage, which is a frustrating realisation. There's only so much I can do about that. What's important with hoarding is the mentality.
I have no worries about sending things to charity now instead of trying to sell any bit of tat on eBay - that's a big step. Husband would say there isn't an improvement (but when he doesn't lift a finger he an hardly be the judge) but to me there's a world of difference.

Sounds like people are doing well, which is great to see. Keep it up! :)

YES to everything above. We have no loft, garage or similar to store stuff and our spare room (box room) is gradually being emptied to make a 3rd tiny bedroom for our eldest son.

I no longer try and sell anything - gets given to friends/school/charity shops. I can't afford to give anything other than small cash donations to my chosen charities but I can donate goods to charity shops (not all my chosen charities.)

I have made small but significant progress with clearing space and DH hasn't made a single positive comment (yet.) Even got him to put out the recycling bags last week, we had several extra due to my dehoarding efforts. However he has offered to help with the [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE]spare room on Saturday and made the point that it is a joint responsibility so that's something. An extra pair of hands is more use than a little praise when decluttering is involved I guess!

better hit the sack otherwise I will be tired to 'dehoard' (tired brain can't think of a suitable phrase) tomorrow

I was going to say "onwards and upwards" but maybe that's not quite the right phrase for hoarders/those with hoarding tendencies :rotfl:

*Whispers* I have indulged my hoarding habits by stocking up on some of the half price household offers at Tesco.

*whispers back* would it be very wrong of me to ask which products are half-price?

Cleaning wipes, liquitabs, dishwasher tablets - big brand stuff (DH fusses about value ranges so I buy the ones he likes when they are on offer).

:) That's OK, I don't buy any of those items, so at least I'm not fretting about what I'm missing out on. Thanks.

the fairy DW tablets are cheaper in B&M if you have one locally.. I only buy them when they are reduced to £5 a bag... and only the lemon ones.. I had 16 bags a few months ago, I've not bought any for way over a year!! and still have 4 bags now and I gave 1 to my daughter!

I do NOT have a problem!! lol

I've not been doing that great with the house project, with both DDs home and summer in the garden ...it's very small steps ;). so there are still clothes on my floor but some will go to CS today and DD1 has found some she likes, so it should not be too bad to put the rest in tidy.
I'm also a non- ironer! If OH wants a shirt ironed he has to do it himself but he knew that from day 1 .
What I have done though was sorting some cds that will go on the ipod, hard copies will disappear. Very small steps but better than OH who is still sitting in his chaos that is his "office"...

OH and the boys ARE taking stuff to CS later, I have the dog crate to drop at my mothers and I am considering ringing my sister see if she is in to drop this cabinet round there..

I have a catalogue return to arrange and 2 ebay items to post.. I WILL clear this house.. I decided after the back room my next pile is the boxes on top of the wardrobes on the landing.. and I have a lot to go up to the loft.

I am seriously considering tie-dying some of the plain white sleepsuits I have loads of brand new ones from my girls white would hopefully sell better on ebay than plain white ones.. worth a try I think.. money making and decluttering scam FTW lol... we shall see, I'm a bit short on time until mid-September when Squeak starts full time school.
