I don't know exactly why but I was on a real downer this morning when I woke up (after vivid dreams). Perhaps it is a good sign - that my Sunday night blues have been put back 12 hours.
If I look at the pile of work that I have done today (to the right of my desk), I can be proud of myself.
I have a small pile left to do, but am running out of oomph. I got distracted by Maggie Thatcher passing away. I'd watched the Meryl Streep film fairly recently and it was interesting. I shall probably have the funeral on in the background if they have it on news 24. (Mind you I sat through hours of Whitney Houston's a while back and they cut it off about 15 minutes before the end, it had gone on for ages though). Not a big fan of any politician really, and I did think that both Maggie's children live abroad so who will do the house clearing? It's the end of an era though so should be marked.
Went to recycling, so that was good. Put away yesterday's line dried clothes. Thought I hadn't done much decluttering but I have been unsubscribing from emails and that would be having an impact if they weren't all emailing to confirm I am unsubscribed.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Some very interesting responses to the Thatch passing on FB, I feel for her family in their loss, but that is it.
Her assertation that there is no such thing as society set us back decades and it's echoes of that attitude that lie behind negative attitudes to single parents, unemployed people and people with disabilities.
When we lived in Germany with the Forces, she slashed our overseas allowances with no notice, and plunged me and many others into years of struggle as we had taken on financial liabilities (a new car) based on the former income.
Pudsey, I missed your posting about the dog, what a shock for you. So pleased that yours is recovering.
My own lovely rescue dog didn't get on with other dogs, I'm so pleased we just had her, as this was something we only found out after we got her.
Back on topic, the large recycling bin is half full again already, yet the 50 litre kitchen bin took ten days to fill which always pleases me. I don't have enough of a garden to maintain a compost heap, I suspect that if I did, the bin would perhaps need emptying once a month.
My plan this week is to get a set of bookshelves into the hallway to replace the ugly but functional plastic storage box for work materials that is there now.
A lovely inspiring post from Mollythewestie, thank you and Catriona, nearly a quarter of your stuff went, that's not too bad at all, given my experiences!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

I know exactly how you feel. It has been a very liberating experience for me.
Good luck with the valuations and your house move in the hopefully not too distant future.

We've pushed ourselves today and deep-cleaned the downstairs loo and back passage  also half the kitchen has been deep-cleaned too. It was tidy but now we've seen definite progress with decluttering it seems to make a big difference to how clean we want it to be!
Four things out - sold on ebay, 4 bags to the CS.
Need to buy some sugar soap tomorrow to tackle the wall nearest the cooker.0 -
Has anyone heard from Blossomhill recently? Hope she's ok

Well, not much progress in this house! I've mainly been working (again) after next Wed though, I won't be working during the week for at least a month, so I will just have to go with the flow for now!
I did however manage to give away a few carrier bags worth of kids clothes over the weekend and I have a pile of bags ready to go to the cash for clothes tomorrow as OH has the day off work.
Today I TRIED to sort out the kids rooms but it is a bit of an impossible task ATM as I STILL haven't finished painting eldests room or managed to get her wardrobe built (that won't be able to get done till after next Wed now) we still have far, far too many belongings, and I have chucked bits and bobs of stuff as I've gone along with the tidying but there's nothing else at the moment that I'm ready to get rid of.No more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80 -
Regarding men and the hanging of clothes - my apparently uber-tidy OH refuses point blank to buy a wardrobe for our room so we have one of those cheapy rail things from Argos which is broken and leans against the wall. I hate that often it's the first thing I see when I wake up
Spoken to my dining table buyer, she's supposed to be coming sometime this week. Desperate to get rid of it now, I'm still mid-moving everything around to suit it's exit, I have family visiting tomorrow and the place looks worse than ever!"Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."0
