  • I have cancelled Jenny on Monday as A) I am doing well on my own, B) I don't have another £135 spare and C) I want to lie on the floor on Monday and rejoice as DH and 3 littlies will be back at school!
Alternatively I can do ALL my college work :)

Really really sorry to hear about your friend Idris :(I can only echo what others have said about being there to help out with whatever she wants, having a newborn is tough enough without this hanging overhead. I hope her doctors are taking care of her.

I had a rather curt response from my dining table bidder on eBay - she said the photos and description provided were 'quite enough' but worded it in such a way that she didn't sound impressed. Oh well, the listing finishes tomorrow and I'm looking forward to moving ahead with getting rid of the table - although for some reason I've started creating weird 'emotional connections' to it in my head when really there are none. :o

All my baby clothes for the sale are tagged up and (almost) ready to go tonight, which is taking up a large portion of the bedroom (I've taken a 'before' photo to show you guys later), but my friend who usually comes to this sale with me has dipped out, which is a shame as we have such a laugh. It also makes transport difficult, so I'm faced with the possibility of having to lug about 150 baby clothes onto a bus :(

    Have a good day all.

Now, if you're on this thread, you're taking steps already, so I haven't posted this to alarm anyway. Feel free to ignore it, if it isn't the right time for you to read it.

WW what's interesting about that story is not the story in itself but the comments!!!

Some of them are risible - "hoarding should be a capital offence" :rotfl:Do you think they know what that means???

I am off with my loaded wally trolley to make a delivery at my local hospice shop - all the unwanted pictures and frames we sorted the other day :T

The trick is to return with it empty :p

I went through all the cuddlies with DD (16) and DS (14) the other day. I told them I wouldn't get rid of any without their consent but could they see their way to losing a few?

Answer - NO they couldn't :rotfl: One thing, though, DD has taken them all and put them out of sight in her room so a result of sorts, I guess.

Idris - well done for doing well on your own :T Sometimes 1 session with a declutterer is enough to show you the ropes and engage you in the process in a whole new energised way. She's always there if you stall further down the line.

Did you make a strong hint about finishing the sale early, as that is against ebay rules and could get you banned, so maybe that made her wary of you as a seller?

Whitewing, I enjoy reading your posts as you get more and more on top of things. Teenage boys can be so funny sometimes.

Re cuddly toys, I tell my children, 'oh I never liked that one - it looks evil' or I start calling them Chucky! Then the poor little innocent toys are too creepy to have in their room, lol. (I am joking, although my relative has a Sacred Object - a very odd boy-in-drag doll that she won't quite get rid of as a friend gave it to her for my DD and I won't have it in my house).
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

Noo...made sure not to do that. I just said that I saw she had a bid on my item and if she wanted to come and take a closer look at it before the listing ended then please let me know. Maybe I'm just reading too much into her response. :o

You can end an auction early to sell to the current bidder.

    From eBay's own help page:
"Note: It is acceptable for sellers to end a listing early and sell an item to the highest bidder at their current bid price. Bidders are permitted to contact sellers with requests to end a listing early for this reason; however, sellers are under no obligation to do so. To end a listing and sell to the current high bidder (at their current high bid), go to the End My Listing Early form and select "Sell to the high bidder"."

Catriona, some people are curt in their responses anyway. One of my friends is the most approachable person I know but her emails are very blunt and read as if she were being forced to write them at gunpoint!

LOL whitewing about the cuddly toys being evil! We have loads of them. My DD appropriated the ones I brought back from my desk at work and they're now in her room :) Her room is tidier than mine. :o

Yes, don't worry about it: it's easy to not hear the right tone in the way someone writes. Or for someone to write some thing a little clumsily.

Thanks for that This Year, I didn't know that. What would be the advantage of doing that? Because you would still have to pay fees etc. and might miss out of a higher bid?

That's why I generally wouldn't consider it myself. One item I was asked to end early, I thought about and refused, then it eventually sold for twice the amount this person was willing to pay - and that was a good offer in itself! :)
