Hi Picklepot, your library will have Which magazine in the reference section, probably 2 years' worth on the shelf. Worth a look?

Off to sneak 4 binbags in the neighbours bins... I LOVE bin night!!
Lol! We have 3 wheely bins one is a large one. All given to us by the council after our first one was set on fire by kids (we were meant to get a large they didn't have any large so gave us 2 standard size and then gave us a large when they came into stock, not taking the other two away again)
OH would fill about 10 bins and it still wouldn't make any difference to how the house would look but I've made him put one behind the shed as an emergency bin, can't be putting 3 out each time the bin men come, plus it discourages him from recycling or even flattening boxes, in it all goes......lNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. My best friend has cancer. She's 34. A big tumour on her vocal cord. She had her baby 13 days ago. I am completely winded by this news. Any tips or experience please?Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

Sorry no experience or tips. I think with thing like this you just have to deal with things as they come and not just expect the worst from the offset. xNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80 -
I'm so sorry Iris. The only thing you can do is be there when she needs you. Give her hugs, support and help with the baby. (((Hugs))) to all of you.S.P.C. 9 2016 No. 062 Banked £337.50

Sad news idris, and even worse when it's someone you know.
Ginger ale/ginger biscuits are good for when she's feeling sick.
Knowing how disorganised I was with a new baby, maybe take her some nappies and wipes, if you know what she uses, and if she is using disposables. Babies can't go without that. Also I think that maybe everyone will want to help 'with the baby' but the effect of that may mean they all do the baby stuff while she is there without the energy to argue about it. So I'd say, make sure that she gets to be with baby if you can and maybe you help with other stuff. So, if she has a hospital visit perhaps you could go along, she & hubby have the baby for the bits where the baby can go and you are outside the door for the times they need to concentrate. Rather than sending her off to appointments while everyone is at home with her baby. These are just ideas. I have no idea what the reality is like, but I do know how people focus on babies when they feel overwhelmed by the enormity of other situations in their lives.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

This is excellent advise Whitewing, people do seem to recover more quickly when their baby is close to them.
Idris, So sorry to hear your news I would agree, be there as her friend and do the householdy stuff, allowing her to have plenty of time with her baby, both of them will need that closeness, to get them through the times she is too poorly with her treatment to be close to the baby.
And keep yourself well, it's all too easy to neglect ourselves when we're worrying and looking after someone else. You need your strength too, it's a scary tough time, but try to stay as positive as possible. Fingers crossed for quick, effective treatment.
Picklepot I'd be inclined to put a thread up for recommendations, mine is the H two 0 mop times 5 (not sure if I'm allowed to put the name correctly) It's on the expensive side, but I'm using it for everything as well as the floors and I've been looking for one for ages.
I would google your flooring first to check if it is suitable too, as you don't want to invest in a steam mop only to find that is not how the floor covering should be cleaned."Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it." (Montgomery, L.M.(1908). Anne of Green Gables.)

No tips, sorry but {{{hugs}}} all I can think of is to be there for your friend and her family as much as you can and take each day as it comes xx0 -
A miracle has occurred.
While we were out this morning, DS has got up and made his bed, without it being mentioned. I think that is partly because FLYlady is on about making beds and partly because there is less stuff in his room so making a bed does make a difference to how the room looks.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them.
