I've just spent the evening setting up all the clothes for the NCT sale tomorrow - so there is now a (small) gap in my bedroom where roughly 150 baby clothes were sat! Keep your fingers crossed for me all - praying most of it sells so I don't have to bring too much home tomorrow!

sorry don't know your situation but you could decide to donate to cs any that don't sell, on the principle of diminishing returns (the best/most attractive to buyers will have sold already, so what is leftover will be harder to sell, and get you less money for your time?) I did this after a car boot sale last year -placed it in a charity box on the way home.

I kept lots of dd's clothes (youngest) as I found it too emotional to part with them so close to my last baby growing out of them. I've been through these boxes two or three times since and each time wondered why on earth I was keeping some of them and given to cs. Probably time for another sweep through this weekend for me.

Thanks for that This Year, I didn't know that. What would be the advantage of doing that? Because you would still have to pay fees etc. and might miss out of a higher bid?

because the seller is happy with the price and it's more convenient for them to get rid of it early/on a specific posting/pick-up day than wait for it to end?

I've just sat and read 8 pages of posts that I havent had time to read over the past few days. Well done to everyone who's made progress with sorting out homes and hugs to those who need them.

Since going away for Easter, I've been busy looking after my sweet little dog........as she was attacked by another dog on Bank holiday Monday. We're now over £1,000 poorer but the main thing is she'll be okay.

Luckily as a result of earlier efforts to sort paperwork, I was able to find her insurance details quickly, so the claim forms for insurance are now with the vets ready for them to fill out and post off.

    Rampant Recycler
My Banish Clutter Forever book by Sheila Chandra arrived today. (I thought 'Oh, same name as the singer, how weird' and then discovered it WAS the same person.) Quite a busy weekend, but looking forward to gathering some tips.

Our recycling bin went out, I think a lot of people expected the collection to be a day late for the Bank Holiday and it wasn't. I am so relieved I got it right, as collection is once a fortnight, and it was overflowing.

Some of the ladies from 40 Bags in 40 Days Facebook group are continuing for another 50 days. I think it's a good idea continuing but I'm not sure I could do 50 bags, I'd have to count the rubbish and recycling for that one.

And this kind of is what this thread is all about; decluttering is about making our lives easier, most of all in times of crisis that are inevitable - that must of taking just a little bit of stress out of a difficult situation:T

I'm having a really quiet day with nothing being done at all.

I had an awful job interview on Thursday after trying to prop myself up with caffeine tablets and cold cures - I'm pretty sure I made no sense at all at some points.

I second Brighton belle, about finding stuff quickly - that's why we're doing this, so that horrible stuff that happens doesn't get worse because we can't find a crucial thing at the appropriate time.

Hope your dog gets well soon PudsyDB

Progress has been made here - we can now see some of the garage floor! I know this doesn't sound right, but there's an estate car full of stuff for the tip, that used to live in the house. Unfortunately (or this being MSE, fortunately) this means that hopefully we can clear one of the two storage units we have!

I've also cleaned the outside of the windows at the back of the house, living next door to a building site means everything gets REALLY dusty :(

PudseyDB so glad your dog will be OK, are the other dog's owners being cooperative?

ETA Picklepot Aldi's are advertising one as a special on Thursday 11th for £30, worth a punt? Here's the link:

I'll be getting one to try :)

    Hello all,

I've done a bit of dehoarding outside in my yards as the weather has been ok. Moved the scavenged wood from the front to the back and DS did a grand job of chopping most of it and it's mostly been burnt on the wood-burner now :D
Chucked the litter that had blown in and tidied up the containers that I'm hoping to plant up (if they're not utilised by the end of summer they'll go too, promise!), still have the broken chimney cap, but it's not strewn all over, it's in a bucket - it's a bit heavy to put in the bin so that'll have to be a tip run I think. Brushed the decking out back and chucked a binbag full of various junk.
Am planning to do a carboot tomoro as weather has warmed (marginally), hopefully exchange some more carp for a bit of cash;)

Well better go and walk crazy doggie and get an early night so I'm up bright and breezy in the morning.

    Keep going everyone x
