Happy belated birthday, Florenceem!
I cleared off a kitchen counter yesterday just before bedtime and scrubbed it. Need to deal with the contents at some point after w*rk as I moved it from one side to the other, but baby steps......:rotfl:Have a good day, everyone. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Another day with the decorator here.
He will be here tomorrow plus 2 days next week. Hopefully - all the decorating will then be practically done.
There will be odd bits - skirting boards off so flooring can be laid. So the skirting boards will need to be painted and the new doors when they are hung.
On the hoarding side - I was looking for a clean tea towel - my airing cupboard contents are still in black bags because of the decorating.
I found some curtains which I don't want - so in the charity bag with those.
I was given something as a Birthday pressie yesterday - I won't use it - in the charity bag with it.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

:j I did it, I did!
Decided that the correct alignment of the stars and my mood to do the ultra-fiddly hand mending of my blouse was unlikely to occur so I might as well just knuckle down and do it anyway.
Took an hour after work and have just finished it. Shamingly, that blouse has been floating around (laundered I hasted to add) in the living room awaiting attention for 8.5 weeks.
Madness. It's a summer-weight top and the summer is nearly gone. I shall give it a few more outings before it gets retired for the season but I could really have done with it these past few weeks but it was unwearable til mended.
Kitchen is still at sixes-and-sevens but I'm cooking supper and skiving off the chores (apart from dish-washing) as I feel I've chomped on a big enough chunk of the "elephant" for one day.

You've been missed. We still use 'richard' and even 'kipple'.

Very slowly! We are eight or nine weeks behind on a three or four week project!
Richard proof bathroom cabinetry
Sadly I have been a bit better and a bit worse in different ways health wise this summer and have spent quite a lot of time battling into hospital for day trips, and everything has been in boxes. Down stairs, you'll be pleased to know, my understairs cupboard, sitting room, dining room and kitchen are all 'normal' as they can be in old unfinished houses....cluttered draws but no stacks of Richard. Our garden room has lots of boxes to sort, and the study (which was pictured) still has boxes, but they are all on plastic shelves arou d the edges of the room, and are mainly books and CDs.
Upstairs is upheaval because of the work and the fact we lost a bedroom to gain a bathroom, so we have stuff on landings. This winter when out of the garden now, i hope to be in this thread sorting through kipper and Dericharding.
I dropped in to day because I sorting through a little jewellery box and threw away most of what was in there. I'm not going to use most of the outgrown plastic tat I have had for twenty years for crafts.
I am dithering over a one inch New Testament I was given while at school. Not the biggest Richard in the world, but a symptom.
I'm in the mood for Dericharding like never before, I chucked a disatisfactory vacuum I keep as a spare earlier. Even though its not entirely dead and one of my others:o is needing repair. I don't like this one so its out. An upstairs and a down stairs vacuum is satisfactory for me, and two is enough to cover repairs (in fact, I think both need a service tbh, I cannot convince resident parent not to vacuum up after the builders instead of sweeping first).
Right, less boasting about throwing away some plastic baubles, I am off to find more I can throw away while my blood is high and I scent Richard waiting for the bin......0 -
Phew, twenty minutes back, one carrier bag of Richard identified and chaos banished from my bedside table, and er.....the floor underneath it.
I love feeling motivated!0 -

Desperation grey queen, desperation fuelled by frenzy!
I've taken a break and I'm just about to have a final push before calling it an evening.....
I will have a nice home.......:D0 -
happy birthday florenceem,
welcome back LIR.
on the plus side: the cs pile that has been tripping me up as I go out the door for weeks has gone to the cs.
on the minus side: I've poked my head into the back loft with a wind up torch to guestimate how much new insulation and have bought the insulation for it. Then I went fully in with a better torch and OH BOY. *sigh*. I have never used this loft ever, but it seems the previous owners and ex used extensively, and a lot is still there (the space is small but in lots of bits and really awkward to see all of).
25 empty large cardboard boxes, some 30 odd empty vodka bottles (thanks EX) to the recycling centre, broken children's toys, shoes, a broken chair etc gone.
still random stuff up there, but mostly more construction-y (bricks etc). I know it's all stuff out BUT it feels like I've done loads and got nowhere because until today I didn't know it was there!:AA/give up smoking (done)0
