Knit Witch, they are 11 and 16 so definitely know better. I've stopped DH getting the washing in as its all their stuff that I had to scrape off their bedroom floors. I thought I was doing them a favour as obviously the linen basket in the bathroom was too hard for them to reach! (Oh I sooo sound like my mother )
Luckily DH always make my tea, lovely homemade lasagneThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
You could always do what my Mum used to do to my Sister when she never tidied up, she went in with a black bin bag and cleared everything on the floor in it and lock it away, only when she started behaving and doing things like her washing did she get it back!Must use my stash up!0

Howdie folks,
I'm on the computer at work at the moment ,but may have sorted the mobile data usage , i think , so far. Mind you i have taken off just about everything so not entirely sure what is operating now and what isn't.
No de-richarding since sunday as spent Monday at the beach then for lunch, then lardarsed on sofa for the rest of the day eating ice-cream and cake...(si i guess that means i de-richarded a cake at least).
Lobbyludd have you managed to sort the hammock ? , i can recommend it, they are great , i loved mine when i had one.
Mollythewestie......congratulations and good luck with new house , i was in within 6 weeks i think so it's definately doable.
Well i'd better be off as at work , just popped in for a read really to see how everyone is doing...:)Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -

Be a bit careful with this - similar to what my Dad used to do whe I was a kid. Anything that wasn't tidied away to his specifications was put in a big black bag and thrown away. A major reason why I have hoarding issues.
I know this isn't quite the same, but just be careful penelopedee. Not sure what practical advice I could ever offer on the messy teens as my little one is still only 2, but I'm very sensitive to stuff like this. Too many people I know are happy to dispose of their kids' possessions as they're 'just children' but would go spare if the same happened to them. There's a fine line I think.
Sorry, this isn't a rant, I promise. Good luck with getting the teens to pull their finger out
Not much de-kibbling going on here, out of energy and feeling a bit under the weather. Did put out a big bag of clothes for a charity this morning though (what's the betting it's still there tonight?)"Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."0 -
Sent Mr F to the charity shop with 2 bags of stuff yesterday.
I did go in a charity shop myself yesterday while in town - the £1 one - got Mr F a M&S jacket for walking the dog. He did need a new jacket - he has lost so much weight - his old coat is miles too big.
I have just dusted a wooden curtain pole - sitting in the hall waiting to be carried down to the charity shop.

My initial response was going to be to say the same......"chuck it out if they don't clear up, my mum did, it never did me any harm"......then as driving to work I found myself thinking Mmmmm........has this contributed to me keeping all sorts of stuff I don't really need anymore. I'll never know I guess, but you may well have a good point.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... I never bin or pass on any of the kids stuff unless they want me to. When they grow out of things they do get asked if they want to keep or charity shop or whatever. I am very much that its up to them what they want as long as they keep it in their rooms or their shed. I live in a house of hoarders so I'm used to it.
What I won't have is them expecting me to do their easy chores at their age, especially when I'm on a long shift. They don't get asked to do a lot just to pick up their own bits and bobs and to try and keep their rooms under control, especially in the holidays.
My own parents were total tidy freaks and despaired of my hoarding when I was at home. My dad still has some of my toys etc in his loft! He always laughs when he comes round now and my living room main bit is actually quite tidy (well as much as 2 boys and 3 cats allow!).This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Anyway, keeping to the de-hoarding theme, today I have scooped up a bag of tat from the kitchen and back hallway that will have to go to the tip as no use to anyone else. Why we've kept the top and not the bottom of an egg crock I will never know.
1 bag of paperwork ready for shredding at the weekend and I've done some 'remembering' decluttering by finally phoning tax credits and sorting out the new employment etc. Was one of those stupid things I knew I had to do (waking me in the early hours!) but just kept ignoring. The girl I spoke to was lovely, sorted it in minutes and I've gained a few extra pounds a week. I am so daft.
My dad always used to say cluttered room, cluttered mind. But sometimes I wonder if its the other way round.
Hope everyone is having a good evening xThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.

Good for you, I wouldn't be having it either. I think I had hoarding tenancies as a kid too....which may well have led to the 'clear it up and sort stuff or it's gone' from my parents. I can't say I feel at all damaged by it apart from once when I had amassed a load of easter eggs rather than eating them (I preferred to look at them all nice and 'whole'). I'll never know if them chucking my stuff meant I hoarded more later, and i'm not really bothered to be honest as it's me who has to deal with it and my problem, and I take full ownership of it.
I did score hugely one time though, my brother was copying me by collecting guinea-pigs and didnt look after them properly. The same rule was applied to this......so I got them. Which I was exstatic about.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0
