If you can, see if you can download Opera browser and use that instead of the inbuilt one on your phone, it compresses the data so you use less. Also have a look at what apps you have running in the background and where possible set them up to maybe update just once a day, or switch off data when not using the phone.
It's a Q10, it was even chewing data when I wasn't using flipping phone, with old phone it didn't use half the data this one does. I have been on the Techie board and done some of the things they have suggested, it seems a bit better now, I think, and have ditched most apps etc as I didn't really use them anyway......what a clart on i've had with it....lol. If it doesn't improve I will drag myself to the O2 shop at some point and hang out with one of the gurus for an hour....joy.
Have tidied house up a bit as friends coming for lunch tomorrow, in the morning may see if I can get a pole long enough to put a curtain over storage space and make a curtain. Meant to vaccum, but got side tracked with tv and cooking. I'm getting there gradually though, only 6 boxes left in pink room to sort now I think. Then need to paint pink room white at some point.
An ex is moving out of the area........so he's bringing the stuff from his shed and loft that I was hoarding it his place....!!!.....and at some point need to get the stuff from mums loft...!! my hoarding know no boundaries, I spread it about for others enjoyment too....lol.
Had a leaflet through door about a local company that pays money for clothes and all sorts of junk, so that's always good to know as I don't know anyone here to cat-flap things too. Plus may as well get some dosh for stuff.
So, no de-hoarding done today, but have organised things so it looks quite organised now in the main. Might go get storage boxes too tomorrow morning to put bedding under beds until I get wardrobes built in other room.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
This looks like a great thread to help me de-clutter. Does it matter that I don't honestly think the state of our house is down to anything emothional, just lack of time and energy? Now that I have been made redundant and have decided to take a break, I can see some hope of dealing with a decade of stuff.
We are making a start by getting rid of all our baby and toddler clothes, toys and equipment: all carefully hoarded in the hope that we would one day have a niece or nephew to pass them on to: it has taken a decade but we are now expecting one of each. The van is booked and next weekend it will all be delivered the lenght and breadth of the country. It will make such a difference in itself but I want it to be just a start.
So, today, we need to get more stuff out of the loft (I know there is cot bedding somewhere up there if nothing else!), carry on sorting out the mountain of clothes, and then start putting it all into bags.0 -
Hello
It's been some months since I visited - not signed in since April!
I have something to share, very little has been done since forever but today I have cleared a shelf above my chest of drawers and my the top of the chest where all sorts of randomness collects. On the shelf which is wide and where the in use cosmetics etc goes I have a box of Jewellery, a bag of current use make up etc a box of to be used lotions cleaners etc. The plan is to use the current body stuff up on a daily basis and not buy any more. I have so many duplicates because I couldn't see the spares when I ran out of stuff also got body lotions that come as part of sets.
On the chest is now one baskets containing random kibble that is current but not yet got a home and some medical bits.
Have thrown out the box from the new set of scales I bought after xmas and loads of paper/ magazines. Only have 2 mags to read now and then they will be recycled. On the scale of things this is so tiny an inroad but I know you guys will understand the achievement this represents for a hoarder.WL 11 st 5lb as at 050109. 160209 11st 2lb

Hi,
Welcome FlubM, and Procrastinator (loving the name!...lol) think we all do that on here. I too have mountains of skin/hair/cosmetic stuff, in fact 2 bookshelves of the stuff, some no doubt years old. I think I will do as you have done and sort a basket of things to use now, seem to have a build up of shampoos too along with maybe 60 lipsticks that I have no intention of ever wearing (from my days working in cosmetics).
Well, the huge hole in dining area was really starting to annoy me intensely, so I have been hanging out in B n Q and homebase, bought a pole to go across hole, found some curtains that are funnily enough the right length which was pretty random, pole up, curtains on, looks much tidier, all xmas stuff and camping stuff hidden behind so now looks like a room.
So, i've gone from £800 ish for doors to be built to £20 for a pole rings and fittings (15 % off today)......result!.
Now need to wizz off and hoover place before friend come and jump in bath.
Good luck to those de-richarding today....oh, I may get to 'cat-flap' a dress to my friend coming with a bit of luck.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
I bought four new white t-shirts yesterday, and I've just thrown out six grotty, not so white ones in exchange! I may even be able to shut that drawer now
. And I've managed to put the washing away as well
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

Hello and welcome FlubM and welcome back, Procrastinator. Good to see you again.
I've been spending an hour or so sorting small random items into types and bagging them for the charity shop. They're all useful things, just not useful to me, so I've bagged them into strong clear polybags and will donate them.
Figure the chazzer can just stick a price on them and put them on shelf, their vols would never have the time to faddle around like this, but I've been doing it whilst drinking tea and chatting, so have quite enjoyed the time.
I have also bought something at the bootfair this morning to get at the candles but didn't need the "decor object " part of the set, so have put that in the donation bag which is by the door ready to go on Tues.
Onward and upwards! And outwards, even!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

hey flubM and procrastinator
more ins than outs today, 2 kids back in, plus went to h*meb*se to get a replacement for the smoking-motor lawn strimmer, but also (ahem) came back with 7 x 2.4m of dado rail.
I do need seven lengths of dado for the hall and these are the closest match i've seen ready made ones to the only original bit left. They were only £14 for the lot in the clearance section. so - a bargain, and I will use them, just probably not until mid next year. they'll be in the loft until then.
have also been given (I know) a broken (I know!) hammock that a friend was getting rid of (:o). I'm going to give it the 2 week rule for me to mend and then she can either have it back or I'll freecycle it.
finished dd's rug last night and her door curtain is up. i have binned the off-cuts before they become sacred.:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
Hi FlubM and Procrastinator great to "meet" you I'm a newbie to the thread and looking forward to being inspired by you all but taking baby steps
One paper bin filled with things I've been "hanging" on to emptied on Tuesday morning. Two extra large bin bags taken to the tip, one large bag ready for the charity shop, one large sack of craft things ready to be donated to local psychiatric art therapy unit, one box for lovely neighbours children who love crafts and one box for me to keep. Can't even see that I've done anything in the bedroom:( but listing the outs like that I must have!

Hi! I have finally come to the conclusion that I have waaay too much stuff. I have a massive amount of clothes that DS16 has grown out of and also a pile of stuff that is too small for me. It doesnt help that my OH has a wardrobe FULL of very similar black or navy tee shirts and box upon box of unworn trainers.
I've got boxes full of the usual stuff too like paperwork etc but it is the clothes problem that is getting out of control. The stuff has been in bags for ages and is now crumpled and smelling stale. I need some advice as to what to do with it all. Some of it is still in really good condition. Do I wash and sort it and take it to charity shops or just get rid of the whole lot?
I really want to get this sorted out to free up available space in the bedrooms as its having a negative effect on my current laundry routines.
Look forward to your replies. :T0 -
Hi & welcome Amanda if it was me I'd wash & dry (we are due some good weather so if you have the facility to dry clothes outside) the clothes to get rid of the smell and then take them straight to the CS, don't worry about ironing them, if you are someone that irons that is.
That's just me though as I dislike waste.
Baby steps - you didn't get all those clothes overnight nor will you get rid of them within a week. Be kind to yourself.
