    Howdie to newbies.

    Update.

Friends are well impressed with my curtain for hole on dining room, it will certainly do for now anyhow until I find out any other problems to pay for in this house. Actually, i'm quite getting into the whole DIY idea so have hunted out my DIY books, I have 3 of them, had them for around 15 years and never really looked at them until now.

Today have managed to off-load/re-cycle 3 dresses, 2 cabbages, half of left over beef joint (friends having a hard time at moment so don't buy beef now but they love it), 2 fleeces, some linen that went with my old table and doesn't fit the one I have now, and half arranged to re-cycle their chairs if they get new dining room furniture. I can either buy or make new covers for them but I think i'll keep the table I have, it's not great condition, but I love it as it's round and extends to a huge oval if needed....and that was a freecycle bargain.

Amanda, I agree with decogeko......wash it, dry it, and take to a CS or one of those places that pay for clothes if you need some pennies, that way someone still gets use of them.

Nanamia....sounds like you have sorted quite a bit!

Edit...laminate flooring does have a positive, cat has been up-chucking and is instantly removable, no washing carpet etc.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Well, there is still huge amounts of baby stuff coming out of our loft: the problem is that it is cluttering the house up even more in the short term as the garage is also full (largely with children's outdoor toys which we will also pass on)!.

I have started bagging up all the baby, toddler and young children clothes. It's slow progress because I do want to send it bagged up into age/category so that my heavily pregnant SILs don't have to sort through the whole lot immediately. I feel bad enough that I haven't ironed it for them.

It won't be until Friday when we load the van that we will really see some difference but the real breakthrough will be when we use the now vacant loft to store stuff which we do want to keep but only use occasionally so that it isn't cluttering up tha house any more. I just have to keep focussed on that and accept that my house is going to look like a charity shop until the end of the week.

    Afternoon everyone

The privet mountain is GONE, I did cheat though. It has been deposited behind some bushes at the bottom of the garden. I try to keep this as a natural habitat so it works well and it can't be seen. I have also started to tidy the rest and throw rubbish out so have a big pile for the tip.

    Onwards and upwards all.

Hi all, hope everyone is well.

I have had a good day, cleared out 3 bags of clothes for charity including a lot of the youngest's stuff that he's finally letting me get rid off.

Have also binned a lot of toiletries that I seem to be collecting and not using, keeping a few nice sets back for us to use.

That has helped empty out the airing cupboard so that I could fit all the towels back in from holiday. I've also now been able to get back into the cupboard behind my bed and have managed to find the birthday pressies ready to wrap for one of the boys next week.

I will clear through the rest of my summer stuff this week and bin/charity anything that hasn't been used this year. I seem to have worn the same few vest tops and crops all summer so I obviously don't need the rest I've been hanging on to for the last ten years!

Hopefully another sunny day tomorrow and I can finish the rest of the holiday washing and get it put away (oh, and a 10 hour shift at work ).
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x
  • Just popping my head in quickly to update.

We have accepted an offer on our newly clean and tidy house :j AND we have had an offer accepted on another :j

The new house is a bungalow with very little storage, so the de-hoarding continues :rotfl:
Just as I thought we couldn't possibly get rid of anything more, this weekend we have shredded 4 bin bags full of paperwork and donated 4 carrier bags of clothes for the charity shop.

I am determined that nothing will move house with us that isn't being used at the moment or can be used in the new house.

Congratulations Mollythewestie! Exciting times and what a great motivator to keep going on the dehoarding.

Have just dropped two bags of clothes and other items, plus a box of books and loads of old carrier bags off at the CS. What's more, I didn't return with anything!

Also took some garden waste to the dump and was saddened to discover they don't recycle videos or tapes so they had to go in landfill.

Now in town picking up a circular saw for our current project: we WILL make those £5 French doors fit the frame! (in winter we lose loads of heat from kitchen to extension, hopefully we'll fix that)

Not sure yet, hopefully it won't be long as our buyers are being bought by cash buyers and we are buying an empty property so we are a very short chain.
I would love to be in by the end of October, the village that we are moving to has a big display for fireworks night and I would love to be able to go to that.

I must admit that I am so glad that we radically culled our collections before the house being put on the market, it made our property much more sell-able. The estate agents and and some viewers commented on how clean and tidy the place was :D, if only they had seen it before :rotfl:

Not much de-cluttering here today, kids have refused to put washing away and empty the washing line despite my 10 hour shift at work and them being sat on their b*cksides all day!!!!

Therefore I am now on strike and my efforts for clearing up are using up a bottle of white ready to recycle in the morning :)
