Trading Standards are an under-resourced Council-run department. I can assure you, apart from soothing noises the best they can do is refer the matter they are not effective or alternative to your own court action.0

Danie1le thanks for replying here, I just sent another email (101)stating not clear terms and conditions, cancelling under PSD, genuine mistake, no contract exist so I don't owe them money.
Apparently they cannot offer legal services in England and Wales according to Legal Ombudsman.
Also mentioned to them that me including 2 other people written to BBC Watchdog, that I'm in contact with Trading standards and Consumer helpline. That there is a big debate ongoing about their company online.
Hope that helps if not than I will send what you did.
Please keep me posted and send me your email, I'm trying to compile list of people affected by this issue.0 -

Hi guys
Just received a call from the consumer helpline, they can't just help me but if more of you will ring than trading standards will look at it.
I managed to get their landline and they are happy for you all to ring and report it:
01851708400 - consumer helpline
They said to me they can't just rely on this forum, people have to ring up so please please do and report it as well!0 -
Thanks cladcat6 - I'll give them a call later today.0

wow that's quite brave. I rung Consumer Line and made sure that they know the company name and they do indeed.
They said that Trading Standards can't assist me at the moment due to economic crisis bla bla but I suppose if more ppl ring then they might get involved, hoping that everyone will write to watchdog as well and they pick it up.0 -
To be expected really, if they were reasonable people it wouldn't have got to the stage it has, so it can't really be expected they'll just turn around and say:
"Yeah, fair enough we've cocked up our website and hence made it confusing for people".
I stopped wasting my time with their generic, unsigned responses some time ago (heck, if they can't be bothered to identify the person sending the communications I don't think I will bother responding anymore, thank you very much).
If I *had* to respond I'd maybe ask them if they consider a black hyperlink within a black section of text "clear", especially when it doesn't specifically state the terms your agreeing to are new and different to the ones presented on all other pages. I'd also maybe ask them if they can truely state there is NO improvement they can make to this in order to make it clearer to the user.
If they respond with "no improvement" then I'd also ask them why they've suddenly and recently decided to include the clause about cancellation procedure in the footer of their website. Why change this if the previous process was so clear and unambiguous?
My overall thoughts? Con merchants (to call them "artists" would be of greatest insult to the profession).0
