Faith Healer

As I say, scientifically there is absolutely no reason why homeopathy should work. But it has been tested, including on animals and babies and children, (meaning it can't simply be the placebo effect) and it has been shown to work.
No no it hasn't been proved to work any more than placebo effect.
The problem with faith healers is that is you'd gone to a go and spoke to a go, they may pick out some of your currently mild symptoms as a sign of under losing problem and get you tested/treated.
While if you go to one of these quaks and then put that niggleing problem to the back of your mind is ignore it so it seems to disapear. Then at later date it comes back much worse. Then you go see a proper doctor and it turns out to be something much more serious and possible cost you your life/ much more traumatic treatment.
People questions what harm there doing well this is just one example then there are those with treatable cancer and other problems and refuse help instead use this garbage instead. The mild examples help to justify the experience of the more extreme types.0 -

How does the placebo effect work on a herd of cows who have a remedy put into their water trough?

I think there are far more people who go to the doctor for ages without getting results and then try some kind of alternative therapy and get improvements.0 -

The farmer just thinks his herd are getting better. In reality their legs have dropped off, he just can't see it because of the placebo effect on him
I have to agree, far more people turn to alternative therapy in desperation, refusing to be beat when the medical profession can offer no more help than the other way around.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I'm not one for quackery but nor would I dismiss 'alternative' approaches out of hand. If it works, that's the most important thing. Not sure about faith healers, don't know much about them, so can't help the OP but I don't hold the view that non-conventional medicines are bad, or a waste of time.0

Hilarious answers ! I have studied placebos and psychopharmacology for quite some time now, any benefit you feel after visiting a " healer" is by virtue of a placebo which is an extremely powerfull thing and not to be dismissed out of hand in any way , the " healer" is acting as a conduit for this placebo and feeding their ego off of you , so althought the healer isn't doing anything you couldn't do without them given the right mindset it's not nessacerily a bad thing is it? If you pay somebody ten pounds and you feel benefit from it ( despite knowing they haven't really done anything) is that bad? Its bad because the delusional persons ego grows and the sink further into their delusion but if you benefit from it personally its a tenner well spent I would say . The latest recognition from the medical profession is in the form of nocebos , think death curse and you won't be far from the mark0
