I'd feel pretty sick if I was slowly realising that I'd been conned out of twenty quid.

Wouldn't have thought money was a big factor - £10 for a 3 hour session.

If she's not doing it for the money

    Why are you paying her?

Its usually to cover travel costs and things, if they are reputable they won't make a profit.

I believe there is a faith healers association or register that aims to keep the dishonest scammers to a minimum, check that she's registered.

I remember my Gran had a healer over, my Gran didn't speak a word of English but something was definitely being felt by her and no it wasn't gas you cheeky so and so's.

If the faith healer can encourage you to focus your mind then that's fair enough. It's whatever suits yourself. Don't credit them with any kind of magical powers though.

If going to see her doesn't cost you more than you can afford and the sessions work (through the placebo factor), it could be worth it.

Just having someone pay attention to you and care about you for three hours could stimulate your body to heal itself through the placebo effect.

After living for years with an illness that modern medicine can't cure and doesn't understand, I'm quite happy to try other methods.

Why are you paying it then? And has she mentioned how much the next few sessions will cost? Loss leaders aren't the sole preserve of the supermarket.

The body already deals with 'toxins'. Through the liver, kidneys and by going for a pee or poo. Somebody putting their hands near you and thinking nice thoughts really isn't going to affect that. Or it would have been provided by the NHS for years.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Even a doctor will tell you however that: if it makes you feel better - do it.

And give your money to a quack in the process?

No thanks. I'd rather have some blood tests run by medical professionals to find out if there is something wrong with me, and if there isn't, take some steps to try and help myself rather than relying on some mumbo-jumbo to do it for me.

I don't think "quack" is the appropriate term. Norman Vincent Peale and Oral Roberts were hot on the "Power of Postive Thinking" in the 1950's and 60's. While there's no science to corroborate the benefits the medical profession will freely admit that there can be excellent benefits from a positive mindset. In one case it is claimed that a person cured themselves of cancer through this method.

Now me, I'm a terrible cynic, so you wouldn't find me going to a faith healer but I also believe in the power of Panacea and placebo. In other words: if you think it's doing you good, it probably is.

"made some accurate predictions for the future"

If the predictions were made on future events how do you know they are accurate? Sorry couldn't resist :)
I have a friend who's convinced that a Faith Healer helped her become pregnant afer 13 years of trying and I wouldn't knock her for that belief. She paid significantly more than £10 per 3 hour session though, if I remember it was around £50 per hour.
