Faith Healer

Does it really matter though? it is like saying someone of one religious belief (spiritualism) is being ripped off by charlatans for having faith in the things they do. We are all entitled to our own beliefs, as a apathetic atheist so long as other peoples beliefs do not hurt anyone or breed hatred of others than they can get on with it.
I think it is a load of cobblers but for those who choose to believe it works then that is their prerogative.
My gran and dad attend the Spiritualist church and have done for many years.. they do the whole medium/healing palava and it all just seems coincidental to me. It is their belief I have no right to tell them they are wrong.
Surely it is better than spending £10 on alcohol or drugs or the sex industry or gambling or a million other damaging things? It doesn't hurt anyone
Its the lying, the dishonesty.
If a 'faith healer' is telling people that they can cure, actually cure, real physical or psychiatric illness then they are lying and they know full well they are lying.
If they were saying that they might (or might not) be able to make them feel a bit better but can't offer a true cure, then it would be less of a problem.0 -
Often they don't touch you though.. they place their hands over the problem area and channel their own positive life energy to heal.. so no it isn't the same.................

But the same can be said of any religion/belief system.. they tell you what they want you to hear to make you keep going to make you part with cash, time, virgin daughters, livestock, harvest crop... they are all the same in that respect which is why I steer clear.
To you it is lying to believers it is offering them hope and a chance of being better.. whether they do or not is irrelevant... noone has the right to tell someone else their beliefs are stupid, wrong, misaligned etc
How is it different to parents buying amber necklaces/bracelets for their teething babies? Or 'healing' crystals? Or bottles of 'holy water'? Fair enough, what precisely do they 'heal' ? Which part or parts of the body do they make sound and healthy again?

Well it isn't, all those things are dishonest too if they promise results that they categorically cannot deliver!0 -
I was wondering if anyone else on here ever experienced work from a faith healer and what was your experience like?
I went to a spiritualist church once many years ago and the healing was amazing. I received the healing sat on a chair and the healer put her hands above my head not touching at all. I did not expect to feel anything as I wasn't a believer, however I was completely surprised. It felt like a energy force emanating from the healers hands. That was my experience.Grocery challenge year budget €3K Jan €190 Feb €225 Mar €313 Apr €202 May €224 June €329 July €518 Aug €231Sep €389 Oct €314 Nov €358 Dec €335 Total spent €3628

But some people swear they help.. there is no scientific proof they do.
If some people find comfort from these things they aren't being conned they are helping themselves feel better there is nothing wrong with it.. what is wrong is mocking or dissing other peoples faith in the things from which they find comfort/relief. Such as flossyblog above.. she wasn't conned she felt better.
With stuff like homeopathy, faith healing, most alternative therapies there is often a period a feeling worse before the feeling better starts.
Each to their own.. live and let live, and all that..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
