  • Well, not been on in a while, been making the most of the eBay flw's. though. Although the filthy lucre from eBay has been set aside to pay for car tax (an eye watering £475) service £305, and mot £55. The latter two are due on 6/8.

I'm loving this hot weather for saving on food costs, yesterday we had home made burgers for lunch, and cereal for tea! Hehe total cost about 50p as the 1.5 kilo of mince cost me £1.56 off the deli counter at sainsburys! ;)

Still waiting for hmrc to send my p800 from last year and the cheque. Although did get my mp involved and got a call from hmrc (SAME DAY as I called the mp) to say that the calculation had been done, £400 less than my calc - but that can be argued once the cheque has arrived. That was 2 weeks ago! Nothing arrived in the post yet! ;(

  • Cheque arrived from hmrc yesterday, I was stood outside Santander at 8.50 this morning (waiting for them to open) so I could put my cheque in.

I now have just under £1300 to get together (£1298 to be precise) :rotfl:and then I will have the money to clear the mortgage completely! :T:T

Although from a purely financial point of view, it can stay in savings accounts paying 6%, 5% and 3% as this is more profitable than clearing the mortgage. :T

  • Payday today, what an important day!

Am awaiting a £172 quidco payment, a £61 topcashback payment (I think they are in, but the secure key implement used to access Internet banking -the display has gone on it. I was on the telephone banking the other day (and it took an AGE).

Money transferred to mortgage account (flex direct) savings account (1-2-3) and last payment has gone in regular saver. Credit cards both paid in full earlier this week (am I the only one who pays their cc bill as soon as it comes through the door?) Overpayment is due on the mortgage today, and normal mortgage payment goes out tomorrow.

I have £420 in the first direct current account, £550+ in my HSBC current account and £140 in cash, mot and service due on the car on 6th, next Tuesday (circa £500 I reckon) - I may put this on the credit card as my regular saver comes to an end on 30/8/13.

By heck, I think I have done it! I have the funds available to clear the mortgage, as and when required!!

  • Thank you for popping by Tilly and GallyGirl, it feels quite surreal, it's something I have wanted for so long, and even a month ago, with all the hmrc hassle, I didn't think it would be there by Christmas (let alone this quick!)

Thanks to all who have called by, LilyP (who has not been around for yonks) GallyGirl, Tilly, Lois E, HDK, NattyPants and all the others whose diaries have inspired me. Keep going, and I will keep checking in for inspiration!

    What to do next??? Xx
