Am awaiting a £172 quidco payment, a £61 topcashback payment (I think they are in, but the secure key implement used to access Internet banking -the display has gone on it. I was on the telephone banking the other day (and it took an AGE).
Money transferred to mortgage account (flex direct) savings account (1-2-3) and last payment has gone in regular saver. Credit cards both paid in full earlier this week (am I the only one who pays their cc bill as soon as it comes through the door?) Overpayment is due on the mortgage today, and normal mortgage payment goes out tomorrow.
I have £420 in the first direct current account, £550+ in my HSBC current account and £140 in cash, mot and service due on the car on 6th, next Tuesday (circa £500 I reckon) - I may put this on the credit card as my regular saver comes to an end on 30/8/13.
By heck, I think I have done it! I have the funds available to clear the mortgage, as and when required!!

Pension

Hehe GallyGirl my pension is already in payment! :j not that I would advocate spinal problems to get access to that pension.:(
What to do?
I reckon I will be able to put away £800 PCM, I have set up a lloyds vantage account (no monthly fee) and 3% interest on balances between £3k and £5k
a Halifax children's regular saver, but I will have to pass the funds through a bit of a trail to get there.
And set up a new first direct regular saver (but I don't think I can do that until this one matures in August)
I need to start putting money away for a new(er) car.]Mortgage 1. At start £46,000, may 1996 jan 11 £27363.58  Dec 11 £25,289.00 December 12 £21,882.68

Congrats on being (or being capable of being!) mortgage-free! Do you plan on clearing it down any time soon or are you going to keep the money in the higher paying savings accounts for now? I'm not sure I'd be able to resist clearing it!And set up a new first direct regular saver (but I don't think I can do that until this one matures in August)
I'd be interested to know how you get on with that, I've been wondering if you're allowed another once your original one has closed. I'll keep my eyes peeled for an update come September!

Thank you dreamdreamer, I plan on being a good girl  and keeping the money in the savings accounts for the time being, it makes financial sense (even though it goes against the grain). There is no point me clearing the mortgage until the base rate exceeds 2%, at that point, it would be an equivalent mortgage rate/3% savings rate. I plan to still keep up the token overpayments on the mortgage.
Phoned first direct this morning, as soon as this regular saver matures on 30/8/13 another regular saver can be started. :j]Mortgage 1. At start £46,000, may 1996 jan 11 £27363.58  Dec 11 £25,289.00 December 12 £21,882.68

Rang first direct yesterday, I got £108.40 interest on my regular saver.
. That was the 8% one. It averages out (, at 4% over the year) as the new regular saver is 6%, I am not going to bother with another, I have transferred the funds into a ltsb vantage account which pays 3% interest monthly on up to £5k, it also gives instant access.
Had a bad spend month in August, with holiday, car service, mot, I have also paid car and house insurance, which is due 17/9. Got car insurance down from £542 last year (it's a merc ml) to £312 this year.:j but my mum said I had made such a good saving, I could sort hers out... Am still waiting to be reimbursed, but I saved her £100 on her renewal, but it cost me £138???
We also had a lack of communication episode, R said I could have an all expenses paid trip to the mulberry factory shop in shepton mallet while we were away. I took him at his word, and bought shoes, a coat for me, gloves, a purse and a coat for Henry Barker, at £710. He then said it was limited to £250? I am not going to pay the extra back immediately, cos he did say "ALL expenses paid"
Made an extra overpayment on the mortgage last month, which came to £373
Mortgage balance now down to under £17.5k :T
Garage roof needs replacing so that's £2,100, am thinking pop it on a 0% credit card so I can maintain my 3% interest? (just got a virgin one to take advantage of the 6 free bottles of wine) need to check details and see if that's feasible! If not, I will be reporting back regularly to the mfw board!:p]Mortgage 1.
