  • Some excellent news arrived in the post today. Submitted a mortgage payment protection misselling questionnaire to Nationwide building society. Received the response today!

We uphold your complaint because you were not given the correct information to make an informed decision.

Refund of payments April 08 to December 09 £494.76
Interest at 8% simple on each premium paid £170.62
    Total redress amount £665.38

Then an acceptance form saying do you want it paid to your mortgage account? Your bank account, or via cheque!

Well tempting as though it is to have the cash in my grubby little hands, I elected for the first one!

Merlin after toast for breakfast and a poached egg for lunch, courtesy of mum, seems much improved!

He was even bringing the tennis ball to me in the garden, and dropping it at my feet so i could throw it for him! Massive improvement from last week! So pleased

  • Thank you so much LilyP, for the FLW heads up on eBay. 15 items listed, and one solitary bid of £29.99 on one item! We will see, come 7/10 days time how many have sold. Hehe! Little Merlin is mucho better, so the vets appointment for tomorrow morning can be cancelled!

Had an odd conversation with little boy this morning, we were walking the dogs and I put his Barbour coat on him. I told him he looked very smart. And asked him whether he liked it? He responded by saying "how many pounds did it cost?" I think this money saving lark is rubbing off on him! If he knows the value of money at under 5 and a half, I will be very proud!!!

Payday yesterday. Bill money shifted, mortgage and overpayment money shifted. Not an awful lot left.

I didn't bother with an extra top up to the £200 op this month, due to the guttering and excessive vet bills last month, will update signature once the mppi refund has credited my mortgage account.

eBay, £40 of sales so far, on 2 of the items!

Best friend came out of hospital Monday night! I had to take him back to the out of hours GP service at half 9 last night. He had an infection!

£105 made on eBay before fees! Whoop whoop! Mortgage not updated yet! Grrrr, phoned today, it will be credited to the mortgage account when nationwide get around to it? Seems an odd way to go about it, but hey ho!

Mortgage now credited with the refunded PPI. Now to wait for HMRC to refund the tax that I overpaid last year... I feel it could be a lengthy wait.

May overpayment has gone through! £865.38 my biggest yet, got £202 from eBay to go through too, so that will go on June's overpayment. According to hmrc, I should get a response by 28th June, but I doubt a cheque will be forthcoming. I did request a £100 per month late payment fee? That request was tongue in cheek. But we will wait and see! ;-)

  • Phoned HMRC again, I am certain I will be singing happy birthday to this tax overpayment! They have not acknowledged receipt of the p60, it was sent recorded and signed for on 24/5/13. Apparently I should hear something by the 14th (assuming June, although that wasn't actually stated).

Anyway the pesky millstone is now at -TA DAH- £18,948.91 Junes overpayment has not gone through yet! Goes on 30th.

I have set a mini target to get as close as possible to 10k by this October! I do hope I get there!

  • I have just read your whole diary so far and am really impressed. You are doing so well. I really need to take a leaf from your book and chase up some financial things to get sorted. I think I really need to ensure I have a decent savings account.
Well done though on your amazing journey and I hope you keep going. I will certainly be checking in frequently.
