It's definitely do-able! :D I think we've done it about 3 times before on this thread, and I've completed it at least twice. It is tough, but the most important thing is to know how many flights you need to do each day and try as hard as you can to stick to it. There have been times when I've slipped a bit and it's worked out at nearly 100 flights a day, which is crazy! But if you slip up for a few days, just put some extra effort in on others so you get back on track.

Good luck with it, you can do it! :j

Have I worked this out wrong then Lolly101? Cos the way I've worked it out i need to do way over 100 flights a day :0

    Everest height 29028 ft / 30 days =967.6ft a day

    height of 1 stair 7 inches x 14 stairs =8.2 feet in a flight

Been told by Fredsnail and Deborac that only i can only count going up the stairs

    So 967.6ft/ 8.2ft = 118 flights a day!

You think that's bad! I only have work stairs, and will need to do 193 flights every day  Think I will only be getting to base camp:( Oh well, will have to do a few run ups when I am in office on my own.

Hmmm. Yes, you've worked it out right.

Confused me for a second as I only remember doing about half that. Just had a quick check back through the forum and have found the post that started it all... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=41566932&postcount=637
We climbed from base camp to the summit which is 11,328 ft. I think later ones included the different base camps too, I can't remember if anyone's actually done the full climb before, but I can't say that I'm looking forward to trying, lol!

Fred, do you still have any info on the previous Everest challenges? As climbing the full height in a month is gonna be like taking on a part time job, lol!

Only just joined, so it will be an even bigger challenge for me. On the plus side, I am doing resonably well at Silverstone and will walk to work on Thursday which is 5 miles, maybe again on Friday, so although I may not complete the Grand Prix, I will get some laps under my belt.

    Hello folks,

I'll try the Silverston circuit challenge please. For this challenge, I'll just focus on sorting out the compost area which is quite extensive. So I'll record the time for conversion to miles. Also, another go at the 5lb challenge please fredsnail. Will update tomorrow. Thanks.

I live in a second floor flat so the stairs challenge is hard for me...I calculated I need to do 55 flights a day!!

Counting since June 1st, I have cycled for 4 hours so that's to add to this months Silverstone challenge please Fredsnail. I had a calf strain so didn't do any exercise for 48 hours which was really frustrating but it's more or less healed now so I'm raring to go next week :)

Unfortunately this has shown on my weight this week which has STS :(
  • Weight loss - zilch, but then that may be because I am not a week in. Everest is going to be a huge challenge as can only allow 262ft at the moment, downside of being in a GFF :(
