Seems a good deal for me, my phone insurance is almost £80 a year and covers very little compared to this (based on unauthorised calls, accessories and phone value limit etc), my breakdown is a lot more than £40 (although similarish cover through greenflag).. I'm going abroad soon so the travel insurance will come in handy, as will the fee free withdrawals whilst abroad... So yeh, for a tenner a month it's not bad at all
Been with santander for a while now, they've improved massively and only moving based on the features of this account.0 -
I'm tempted, but I've realised that the breakdown cover might not be suitable for me.
I share a car with my wife, but its registered with the DVLA in her name. The breakdown cover only seems to apply if you're in the car, or if the car is registered to you. I wonder if that means registered with Nationwide, or registered with the DVLA.
It says the following:Account holders are covered
in any private car whether as a driver
or a passenger
It also provides cover for a private car
registered to the account holder and
being used with their permission.
Where the account is in joint names 2
private cars can be covered
So to answer your question, it's personal cover for you and vehicle cover (so anyone using your car is covered).0 -
Why move? Keep both.
Well if my salary is going into one and I'm using the features of that account, I don't really need the second account open =/ I have to fund a minimum amount into it as well, I think it's £500 so would be a bit awkward.
For those that slate Santander mind, they've always been really good to me.. if they offered a similar packaged account I'd stay.0 -
I'm surprised no-one has mentioned that you get a different colour debit card LOL...
Or do we Nationwide customers not care for such frivolities?I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

If Nationwide then decide to hike the cost of the account (wouldn't surprise me once they have enough customers), you can move back with a minimum of fuss.0 -

Nationwide FlexPlus with a Select Credit Card seems a pretty good fit with a Santander 123 Current Account and 123 Credit Card
123 CC at 3%,2%,1% cashback
NW CC at 0.5% for everything else and travel card with 0% commission
123 CA as a main/savings account with cashback and 2-3% interest on high balance (good for CC repayment DDs)
NW CA as backup (no minimum funding) with 3% on low balance, insurances and travel cash card with 0% commission
You will also qualify for Santander and Nationwide exclusive offers.

Well it's a kind of sludgy blue colour. Not as if it's pink or anything
.
Looks silver to me? Like the Select card?I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
