I'm tempted, but I've realised that the breakdown cover might not be suitable for me.

I share a car with my wife, but its registered with the DVLA in her name. The breakdown cover only seems to apply if you're in the car, or if the car is registered to you. I wonder if that means registered with Nationwide, or registered with the DVLA.

Make it a joint account - then you should be OK!
  • Don't the terms say something like "unless the account holder is in the car", which you would be, if you were driving it?

Yes, that's correct, but I'd like the car to be covered if my wife was driving without me. Our current Brittania policy covers the vehicle, not the policy holder.

Took out annual worldwide policy in Jan (em........ didn't know you could upgrade the basic one :o) and my breakdown cover cost all of £27 a year (payable monthly on interest free DD :rotfl:). Don't have own phone, not that fussed about extended warranties as no major purchases planned (she says, putting a curse on washing machine and fridge freezer :o). Only thing of value would be fee free overseas withdrawals. That sounds vaguely familiar...... Will keep to Clarity for that.

Will stick with what we have.

Work one - I only pay for overseas or premium calls.

Anyone know when the £10 charge is made (could not find T&Cs) e.g either opening month day or 1st of month. I like to place all my bills at the start of the month and my credit cards at the end so I know how much money I've got to spend/save.

Ah. Finally found it in the Q&A
The £10 monthly fee is taken on the last day of the month (even if this is a working day or bank holiday).

The first monthly fee will be taken at the end of the month after you have opened your account. For example, if you open your account on 1st February the first monthly payment will be taken on 31st March.

I must admit there is a large amount of info Nationwide has put up on the web about the FlexPlus. Mind you the website performance seems to be taking a hit.

    Totally agree on that.

I would say this is close to the Platinum Cover but that is £17 and you have to choose between Family or Winter cover. (Ignoring Overdraft as it is something most will never use)
