They have bc forums , they are of great help. Young survival coalition been my board for a couple of years , it is a massive source of support and information. We all need a vent to winge time to time. Re radiotherapy - it may cause fibrous changes in tissues around your implant so it looks a bit lopsided and weird , it would be your choice if you wanted another op or not. Steroids is a big downer , you will feel better once chemo is done , just Jang on there for now x
The word "dilemma" comes from Greek where "di" means two and "lemma" means premise. Refers usually to difficult choice between two undesirable options.
Often people seem to use this word mistakenly where "quandary" would fit better.

Ps. I had my radiotherapy on my lunchbreaks while working. Who knows , you may find it easy as well. Do not forget to take a photo of you with no eyelashes and no hair as a reminder of what you gone through.

Not sure who told you that radiotherapy would melt your implant:eek:
Theres a possibility that radiotherapy may harden the implant but its by no means certain.
I had radiotherapy in 2009 after a reconstruction with implant. I have to say there was no noticeable difference. My treatment was over 5 weeks so a lower daily dose but the same total dose. This was to reduce any potential damage to the implant.
I have just had my implant changed but that was due to having been put in the wrong position in the first place!!! I now have an even cleavage LOL!
Good luck with your appts, you WILL get there, I promise xxx

It was my surgeon. I have a special skin stretching implant that's like a doughnut with saline in the ring, and a valve in my armpit where they inject saline to inflate it. It's more susceptible to 'melting' as its less firm than a normal implant cos its thinner and more stretchy apparently.

I had a skin saving mastectomy which is where that hollow out my booby and use the existing skin to make a new one, so no using my back or tummy & less scarring, but it needs to be stretched, hence the different type of implant. It's still only a C cup so I'll need the other one (E cup) reduced eventually if I want them to match, but I'm in no hurry for more surgery.

My recurring nightmare atm is that I find lumps in my other boob :(

Expander you mean. Massive amount of women have rt with those. Lucky you , I went for 2 years flat chested on one side , was bitter for them not offering immediate reconstruction as you had but hey Ho , I been alive for more than 6 years now and I understand NHS has its limitations.. shame I can not log in to ysc now , they changed interface so my old log in does not work , I wonder what happened to other fellow women since then .. when you see some posters you grown to like developing stage 4 or dying it brings home how lucky one is to not have it as yet so bad ...
Ps.my dating while on treatment and would be a fun book to write , I never will forget a post of one user called Lola who was universally liked on ysc board about their day out to Ikea while on treatment , it was hilarious. Sadly she died a year after original ds , she had a daugjter of 2yo at the time , the same as me .. count your blessings ...

Chemo cancelled as I have a temperature of 38.3. So I have to go in at 8.15 for daily iv antibiotics :(

Better than being admitted again, which was the alternative.
