MSE News: Orange and T-Mobile customers face yet more price hikes

I accept the Ts&Cs bit about price increases because there are events, like the VAT increase, where this would be sensible and I would accept it.
However, just doing it willy-nilly because they want to pay Kevin Bacon for doing their multitudinous (and, frankly, rubbish) adverts isn't a good reason to me.
Especially not when this has all come so soon after the bloody 'Free' (but suddenly only if you pay our over-the-odds line rental) Broadband debacle.
Roll on July when I can get out of this blasted contract.
Utter, utter crap. I'm not the only unhappy customer and we will all be voting with our feet (or our money!).
Since they became EE I have had endless calls cutting off, poor signal and bad lines. Can that really be a coincidence?
If I felt they'd be spending my extra 80p a month on improving that I'd be slightly happier but I'm sure it's just going in some-one's pocket.
Either that or I now have shares in Kevin Bacon and it must be my turn to have him round for tea soon...
Nothing with them surprises me any more and I'm crossing off the days until I am free (after 13 years...).

This is where it is completely unacceptable. VAT does not affect the cost of TM doing business, they are able to reclaim all VAT they paid.
So when a VAT rise to 20% occurs, we are charged twice.
1. Immediately the monthly contract rate goes up to 20%, because TM's contract is based on ex-VAT rates. This is acceptable and what happens all over the country when VAT rises.
2. A little while later, VAT ripples into the RPI figures. A little while later still, TM use the RPI inflation figures to justify a 3.4% increase to their pre-VAT prices. Part of that 3.4% is due to the VAT increase, but note you are already paying for that in (1). However, by factoring in VAT to the line rental price under the guise of RPI, TM are charging you twice.0 -
I'm stuck with another year
Received my letter this morning, going up from £36 to £37.17 - while I appreciate it's not much, it's the principle of the thing!Currently in a Protected Trust Deed - 23 payments until DEBT FREE - February 20270 -
how is it the third price increase in 18months? they are allowed by terms and conditions to increase the price once every 12 months in their terms and conditions - and why the hell arent sim only customers affected?! how is that fair?0

The whole company has been a complete shambles since the beginning of EE! Seems it us Orange/T-Mobile customers who're paying for it!!!Currently in a Protected Trust Deed - 23 payments until DEBT FREE - February 20270 -
just received my price increase letter - going up 50p per month, which will make my plan £16.14 per month (light user) - but the good news is my contract ends on 6th March, so will check if any retention deals, otherwise get my pac code and sign up for Ovivo - as I have an HTC Evo - fab phone!0

Hi, looking for some advice regarding a mobile phone contract i have. Ive had it since september 2011. I received a letter today saying there will be a rise of 0.99p. There telling me this is due to inflation. Am i able to cancel my contract without any penalty due to them altering my contract.
Thanks

I doubt it very much. Most provders have a clause in their contracts which let them increase their prices during the fixed term as long as it's no more than inflation.0

Check your Ts&Cs first of all.0
