All the major networks have this term arielcohen so it would come across as hypocritical. All the major networks did this too last year. I don't like it but I know what I agreed to.
I would ring Orange and negotiate your plan. The older plans are very stingy anyway in most cases. Newer plans offer you way more.
Orange also allow a tariff downgrade from the second half of the contract so you might infact save money not lose it.
Until Ofcom step in you need to accept that what you are agreeing too is subject to price increase... BT, Virgin and Sky have all milked this cow for years I am suprised it has taken networks this long.0 -
Someone has got to pay for all the 4G advertising somehow and as people are smart enough not to sign up for EE's 4G tariffs they are passing back the costs to nearly everybody else.0

Unlimited broadband? Fixed mobile phone contract? Lifetime tracker mortgages?
Getting beyond a joke. These taxpayer funded bodies run by incompetent overpaid profligate civil servants should do their jobs and look after the public!
Make businesses stick to the letter of what they are advertising for sale! And invest in a dictionary!0 -
I fully agree with your sentiments concerning the price hike, but what I disagree with is "insurance you really need on expensive modern phones". This is an optional charge to which you're not locked in, and you're free to go elsewhere or not bother with insurance at all.
Everything in life is optional. You just have to accept that there are consequences.
I've had a phone stolen from a jacket pocket zipped shut - that's theft not carelessness. But that is only once in decades.
I have heard some awful stories about some other phone insurance providers, and don't want to risk a claim on my house insurance that will jack up my premiums on renewal, 'protected NCB' or not.
Orange Care is far more integral. It offers repair as well as theft or loss, is available via the Orange Shops etc. They know that people choose Orange partly because Orange Care is a desirable feature, in other words it forms part of the buying decision for the whole package. For me, I see this huge price rise for Care as a stealthy penalty for those who not want the kind of service they bought into. You cannot replicate Orange Care elsewhere.
If you took out an Orange contract in part because of Orange Care, and told them so, then it is material to that contract and the price rise is a breach of that contract. Any small print would be overridden by that consideration. Having said that, am I going to court over £2 a month? Nope - and they assumed so when raising the price, I'm sure.0 -

Not all customers will be hit. Contracts which aren't affected include:
Orange customers who signed up after 2 December 2012.
Orange business, Sim-only, works and "current pay monthly consumer" customers.
My husband took out an Orange Sim only 12 month contract at the end of December last year. He received a letter saying that he too will be hit with inflation level increases, but will be refunded for 6 months. The article should mention this.0 -

You've missed the point, if you don't like the Orange Care increase you can cancel Care without penalty. Why you think it should lead to contract cancellation is puzzling.====0 -

Indeed, I have owned mobiles since April 1994, I have never had one lost or stolen, as I take care of my items,
as an aside, I just had a phone sim free on Thursday, was at my brother's and dropped the phone in a tub of water :eek:

wonder when the goverment will step in on this one like they have over gass and electric. mums been advised that theres a 3% comming in october, so people consider this when renewing contract, for now im on a 30 day rolling contract so if they do it then it will only apply for one month or ill be asking for my pac code...0
