always amazing when you read back on an old post that so many people joined to post one or two comments and never continued to post anywhere else. The world is full of cowboys. Thanks for exposing yourselves guys.

Hi all,
I am after some advice please. I contacted one of the main firms (rather not mention the firm) in December, and they were set to start on Jan 24th. Spoke to them night before and was told they were running late. would now be 27th. No problem, understandeble after the snow. Now its 15th of Feb and still waiting, had no contact from them. Have left messages for them to contact me. Has anyone else had this problem? I dont mind that they hav'nt started yet, but not being kept up to date is terrible.

Hello Cymro32
I'm sorry I can't help - if you don't mention the Co. name I don't think people are going to be able to help. Is it concrete guttering you're having done? If so, the company I used TLG were excellent, came when they said they would and cleaned up after themselves.:j
Hi Susie
I am in the process of getting quotes to replace my Finlocks and TLG have quoted me. How have the new fascias held up? Did the damp clear up?0 -
Just thought I'd add to my other posts on this thread. We had a surveyor look at our house a couple of days ago, nothing to do with the roof, it was on another matter. However, while he was there he was very complimentary about the work done to replace the Finlock guttering (done in 2010 by Fascias 4U Midlands Ltd). Reassuring to hear - especially as I still haven't seen the work for myself, except in photos (we live abroad).0

Amazing how you mention the same company in all but one of your posts.0

Is mentioning a company name expressly forbidden? I do so purely to help people to make a choice when looking into having this work done. I think if you read the posts carefully, it's pretty clear that I'm not acting on behalf of said firm, nor did I receive any sort of discount from them. In fact, I could add as a caveat that given that the work was finished several years ago, I can't comment on the firm's most recent work.0 -
Hi there I'm new to this forum. Having read some of your comment we have decided to go down the route of having our finlock gutters removed. We live in Norfolk and was wondering if anyone has had this job done who could possibly recommend a good company. We have already had a quote with a company called Concrete Gutter Replacement LTD, but was hoping to get some more before we make our final decision. Has anyone dealt with this company or any other with in our region ??? Obviously with so many cowboys out there picking the right company is a must.
Thanks you in advance for your help0 -
We had our Finlock Gutters done in March 2010 and have to say (or dare I say it!) we haven't had a problem. TLG were the company who carried out the work and, although not cheap at just over £4,000, we haven't had any trouble since. They came out and gave us a quote and that is what we paid. We live in a large bungalow and had the guttering replaced down two sides of the bungalow. They did take off the old concrete guttering back to and level with the brick of the bungalow and, I suspect, drilled into the remaining concrete lintel. I notice on this site that this shouldn't be done. We had previously had the gutters lead lined and it did last about 12 years but unfortunately the water did manage to seep in under one of the joins. I must say I would never ever buy a house with Finlock guttering again but so far so good with what we've had done (finger's crossed !!)0

Hi, my partner and I wanted our finlock guttering removed had a couple of local builders out but they said it couldn't be done. Just after Christmas i noticed one of our neighbors having it done, i knocked and asked for the company details, she kindly gave me a copy of her invoice, I rang and was told they not in area for a couple of weeks but a date was set. A week later another neighbor had his done same company same size house but was nearly double the price, the fact that he is in his 80s worried me. As an appointment had been made we decided to honor it. So Finlock Solutions turned up on time, he had a look front and back and gave me an inflated price, I told him I knew what the others had paid, he made a phone call and put gentleman on loud speaker, after listening to this bloke for half hr the price came down by 1500 but only if we had it done in the next week, and they wanted 2000 up front to hold the date. We refused to sign anything or commit and he left. Am I the only person that thinks its silly to send a sales man to someones house that cant even negotiate!!!!! he drives all the way then rings the boss, surely would make more sense for the boss to come!! Rant over.
Anyway our old neighbor got a leak within a week but the weather was atrocious. I decided to do some research and discovered that they had been on watchdog rouge traders, needless to say we never rang them to do the work.
however after finding this link on google I have emailed Trent Valley to see if they would travel to wales, I didnt want to waste his time so asked for a rough price, rough price he came back with was ok, hes coming to see us next week, so fingers crossed it goes better this time round. I will keep you informed.0 -
